My Dear Mom made me some quilts a few yrs. ago and a couple of them are fraying around the edges and some of the patches are ripping. What can I do to save them as my mom is no longer with us. I can sew and I have a serger but would that reck the quilt? Thanks for the advice. Buttons |

In order to fix the edges you can put a new binding on it. Are the patches sq. Then you just make some new ones and sew them on by hand. You can also cut a 1/8 of one side adhesive stabilizer to help make the edges lay over nice. Steam a seam or wonder under might be too stiff. Or just iron the edges under and just sew on. If the patches are different shapes, you can use an old bounce sheet. Just sew on the right side of the fabric. Cut a slit in the bounce sheet and turn over. |

Thank you so much for all the info. The patches are square and I will try your ideas. The quits just got a bit worn from washing them. I'm not a quilter but really want to save them. Thanks again. Buttons |
