Does anyone know which home machine on the market has the largest embroidery field? My machine is only 4 x 4 and I want to start researching for larger fields. Thanks in advance! Kathy grammyo3 |

Hi Kathy and welcome to Sew Whats New The only one I can really speak of is the Brother who also makes Babylock. They have embroidery fields up to 6X10 |

The Bernina Deco 330 has a 5.5 X7.9 in. field, according to their brochure. You can probably check their website and it might give you fields for their other machines, too. ~Becky |

Janome's largest is, (giga hoop) 9"X8". (in one OR two hoopings depending on the digitized design. The giga can be turned around to do side #2) Janome 10001, 300E (embroidery only) have 2X2, 4X4, 5X7, 9X8. There are also Hoop-it-all hoops (www.hoopitall.com) that do large or long designs, depending on your machine (they have lists for ALL machines) they are multi hoopings, not continuous. (because the arms on the machines can only travel so far). Chrys

My Bernina 200E has a Mega hoop option (which came with mine) that will do 150mm X 400 mm. The standard large hoop does 145mm X 250mm which equates to 5.7 X 10 stitch field. The machine will also allow any picture or design that fits into the mega hoop and self-split the image without any work on your part. (You have to move the mega hoop during the embroidery process to use large designs...the machine stops and tells you where to move the hoop...then continues stitching.) I have heard that the new 440 BSR machine will take the mega hoop but requires the user to split the design. I'm not exactly sure how large 400mm is but it is close to 16 inches (give or take). The largest design I have done to date was a FSL that was 137,500 plus stitches and took 4 hours to do. It was a combined pattern that filled the hoop from end to end and almost from side to side. I had no problems with this design. It went the entire length of the megahoop. The bad news is that the price tag on the 200 matches the hoop size but it is a wonderful embroidery/sewing machine with some incredible options and standard features including an automatic buttonhole sizer. It also has an automatic resizing calculator built in, a lovely monogram on the sewing side, 6 built in alphabets without any software attached, and on-screen editing. It is windows based and allows for internet connection to a Bernina site that gives information, announcements and free downloads. If it fits your budget it is well worth investigation. pam

My D1's have a 6x10 embroidery field, but Husqvarna has also come out with the Endless Hoop, which I COVET! You can do a tablecloth or runner or bedspread without rehooping! Allie "onward through the fog"

The newest Brother/Babylock machines have a slightly larger stitch field.. don't hold me on this, but I want to say its close to 8 x 12... I'll check the Brother site and get back to you... personally I find the Brother'Babylock machines among the most user friendly.... most people find themselves embroidering with few difficulties right out of the box... just my 2 cents... MO correction.. just checked www.brothersews.com the embroidery field on the newest Brother/Babylock machines is 7 x12 MO life is too short, not to explore

My Singer XL 6000 has a 6X10 single hoop for the biggest but it also has a multihooping system that lets you sew out with multihoopings up to a 10 X 18 just by using X and Y axis, sort of like a GPS system. Tell the machine where the cross mark is and it sews the parts of the design out even with the other parts and it's straight even if you hoop it crocket. Pretty good thing to have. |
