Hi Everyone, My stepson is getting married next Nov, I'm thinking I would like to make them a double wedding ring quilt, I don't have much practice with quilting, although I've sewed for a long time. Info I have read suggest that it is not an easy pattern to tackle. What are your experiences with this design? The pictures I have seen all seem to have blue colours, and a white background. Are they usually made with blue fabric? Also, the scalloped edges look a little difficult, would it be acceptable to just finish with a straight edge? I don't want to go so far from the original design that you can't tell whats its supposed to be! I appreciate any comments you may have. Thanks, Elly |

Elly, there is a new type of wedding ring made into squares now. Here is the site that has details for you. http://www.lucyfazely.com/pattern1_lg.html |

John Flynn has a book and acrylic templates for the Double Wedding Ring. http://www.flynnquilt.com Look under acrylic templates. The book shows his method of putting it together which is streamlined and more easily done. Jeke Jay

On Simply Quilts this morning they were doing a double wedding ring. It looks so easy. Here is the link http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_qlt/episode/0,1806,HGTV_3876_31711,00.html

I also saw that show with the Double Wedding Ring, made simple. It was very interesting to watch how she was doing it. I liked the red and white one with the plaid fabric in it. It looked more complicated than it really was. |

I checked out that link, they have used beautiful colours. I haven't decided on what colours to use yet, hoping I can make it to the fabric store this weekend. I am anxious to get started on this project. |

The ruler seems to simplify things a lot. I watched John Flynn's method once and it looked rather difficult to me.
