Sew Any Fabric
January 10-15, 2006

Join Claire for 5+ days to improve your sewing skills, stimulate
your imagination, expand your horizons, and meet new friends.

"CHANEL AND THAT SUIT" focuses on Coco Chanel, her life and
contributions to fashion, the House of Chanel, the Chanel suit,
and the French dressmaker suit. You will examine original Chanel
suits from haute couture and ready-to-wear collections as well
as line-for-line copies and knock offs; and you will view slides
from museum collections, including the upcoming Chanel exhibition
at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You will learn traditional
couture techniques to design and create an original French
dressmaker suit. (Only Chanel can create a Chanel suit.)

"SEW ANY FABRIC" will broaden your understanding of fabrics, show
you how to polish your sewing skills, help you avoid disasters,
and teach you how to communicate with your fabric to unravel its
secrets so you can sew any fabric successfully and confidently.
Designed for everyone who wants to achieve quality results, but
doesn't have a lot of time to sew, this workshop focuses on those
challenging fabrics you've been collecting, basic techniques for
all fabrics, silks, double cloth, and novelties.

All workshops are taught by Claire, America's foremost expert on
couture and fabrics. A frequent contributor to numerous magazines
and college instructor for more than 20 years, she is the author
of 15 books, including "Couture Sewing Techniques", "Sew Any Fabric",
"Claire Shaeffer's Fabric Sewing Guide", and "High Fashion Sewing
Techniques". Her Custom Couture Classics for Vogue Patterns feature
classic designs with couture construction techniques.

All workshops are $995. for early registration. The fee includes
5+ days of instruction with lunch plus all fabrics, materials,
notions and supplies needed to make a reference notebook. The
fee does not include hotel accommodations, airfare, or meals not
specified.
