Hello,
I've been reading posts here (all categories) for quite some time now, and have really enjoyed many of the threads and have learned so much, thank you! I have made a few crib-size cheater quilts for my twin granddaughters, and have improved with each one. Now I need to move on to "real" quilts. I have bought a number of rotary cut squares, 4 1/2", 4 colors of the same design, to make a quilt for my daughter, and am still trying to decide on how to best use the squares. That one can wait though, since my son is getting married next week and will be moving into base housing this fall. I have the materials to make a quilt for him, and now that he will be able to actually have it in his possession (can't have personal bedding in the barracks), I want to get started on it.

I have 2 large USMC logo panels and about 1/2 - 1 yd. of allover logo fabric, along with 8 coordinated fat quarters that I wanted to use to make this quilt for him. I know I want to use some kind of star pattern, but I'm not sure how best to use the fabrics for the blocks. I thought I'd use the logo panel as a focal point in the center of the quilt and the logo fabric for strips, binding, etc. Now that I have 2 of the panels, I was thinking pillow shams. I guess I'm asking for help because I don't want to mess it up! LOL So,,,,,,,,, I was wondering if there was some kind soul that maybe could give me some ideas/direction for this scary, yet exciting new endeavor of mine. I can take pics of the fabrics, no problem.

Right now I'm making an embroidered pillowcase bride doll which is a little more than 1/2 done, since I got cheated out of making the actual bride's dress. LOL When that's finished, I really would like to get started on this quilt, should be about another week or two.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I quickly read your post and thought maybe something somehow kind of Around the World design?

Great idea about the Around the World design, sounds like something I'd like to try someday. For now, I'll be using the Marine logo and star fabrics to fashion some type of quilt for my boy. I guess I'll just go ahead and cut up a block's worth of fabric and see how it looks and work on from there and see how it turns out. I'm sure I can figure out something, and hey, it'll be made by his momma, so I'm sure he'll love it no matter what. :)
