Hi!
Anyone out there have a Singer Featherweight 324? I purchased it for my daughter when she was in college (circa 1993) and she never had any luck with it. I decided to try and get it to work on this rainy day. It's very clean - hardly used - and I managed to get a straight stitch but it keeps skipping a few on the zig-zag. I was wondering if this machine was a lemon from the get go or should i keep fooling around with it. All suggestions welcome!
Thanks.

I didn't know that there was ever a lemon Featherweight from that timeframe. If you're having problems with it and she never had much luck, it may have needed adjustment from the beginning. If you can't get it working right, it probably needs a minor adjustment from a good repair shop.

Hi Pam,

I did have it serviced when she complained about it (in fact the sticker is still there!) and they insisted there was nothing wrong. I think that I solved the thread breaking by making sure it went through the strange tension set up. I am hoping the zig-zag is also some kind of user error. Guess it will be another trip to shop - at a much higer rate!
