If anyone is interested in doing a SunbonnetSue 12 month quilt, I bought a mag. this weekend at Wal-mart that is called Patchwork quilting and she is on the front page as a Year's worth of Sunbonnet Sue! It says it is put out by Woman's Own and Harris publications. It was like 6.95 but wow it gives you full size patterns for her and like 20 other patterns. I found it with the other quilt books. Hope you can check out your store and find you a copy. It is a treat!

For the BOM ladies, NO I am not taking on this project YET~ LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to post a pic and it said file too big so if you will send me your email addy I will send it that way to ya.

Luv2sew,
Sorry it hast taken me awhile to get back~ Internet was down for 3 days~
No that is not the book. It is a magazine, and the people that come into our walmart has already pulled them and had them go back~ So if you ladies want one you best get to walmart and get it before they get pulled. Those vendors come into our store each week and pull old ones, but sometimes they pull new ones too (don't know the answer to why for that), and when I inquired about more they said they had already been scanned out. bummer~ But hopefully your store will still have one~

Yes I can go smaller. When I see quilt patterns I like, For example the sun bonnet sue patterns I get happy & like to type big. I will try to stay small letters.

You know OKnana, I can get into enough trouble with this quilting stuff all by myself!

I saw that book at the grocery store and just had to have it beings I have all this holiday fabric for my house quilt. The Sues are so cute but I wan't too crazy about the fabric they used for them. So when are you starting that one? LOL1

Hope your hubby is doing well with his treatments and you are doing ok also. Take care!

Norma, I see you aren't sleeping either. LOL! We are supposed to be going to the big City again in around 4 1/2 hrs and I am back up, bc I can't sleep. I get migraine headaches when I am stressed, but today I have had just a normal headache ( what is normal?) Anyways couldn't sleep, so here I am trying to be quite so DH can sleep, and looking around in cyber space to see who is up too, and I find NORMA. Yeah! DH's health is not good right now. Those treatments sure mess his memory up and that worries me, but they seem to help him. So we continue with them for right now anyways.
I see you have been shopping for your house block fabric huh? GREAT! We need some more pics posted for them~ So have you decided what your SSUE's will be done in? I liked the way they were done, but I like it when someone can do the color thing for me. I have a hard time with colors it seems. Especially when something is supposed to be shadowed. I liked painting until I had to shadow things to make them look better and could not get the hang of it so dropped that craft. Well it is late, or should I say early, and I best try to get some sleep eye so I can drive that 2 hrs in the morning. Hugs to ya and have a good day on Monday. Hope you can catch time to sew some! I don't sleep much OK, so when I can, I do and when I can't, well here I am!
Not sure what it is as I go right to sleep but only sleep a few hours and then I am wide awake.

Color is not my stong point either..........I just take my hubby with me and he tells me if it goes together or not! That works fine unless I have a specific idea of what I want and then it can get a little tense

You mentioned going into the city.....do you mean OK City? My husband's family lives in Anadarko, not far from the city. We were there last summer for a few days to see his Mom.

Have a safe trip and hang in there! GO TO BED!!!

Sounding stupid here but BOM (block of the month) what is that and how that works? I have heard of it many times and never had the guts to ask and now I am taking initiative and ask what that means?

As for the Sue swap - I posted a thread in the SWAPS section asking about a possibility of doing a swap in the fall ... hopefully we can set one up. Please watch that section as well.

Hey there ... checked out Walmart yesterday for that magazine that Okla was talking about it - sure enough ... it had 12 blocks of Sue with a "theme" related to the month like March: St. Patrick's Day - she was holding a shamrock. It was pretty cute ...

For some reason that Walmart I went to (not my normal Walmart) had SEVERAL magazines of quilting - I could spend all day there!!!

Thanks for pointing it out!

BRG, BOM stands for "Block of the Month". Every month in 2005, Mary posts a pattern for a block complete with lesson that Joanne has designed for us. So if you do one a month by the end of the year you have a complete quilt and you have learned a lot along the way. Joanne will give instructions for finishing it also. Come join in on the fun! Joanne even posts pictures of the blocks and it is so much fun to see what others are doing for their quilts. I have learned a lot just looking at the photos.

Wal Mart has a great selection of quilting magazines..........check your grocery store too.................and then plan on having a large stack sitting somewhere with patterns you are going to do "someday"! :bluewink:

Already have that - a few books with patterns I gotta or wanna do!!! To make things worse, I bought an embroidery/sewing machine so I can learn to embroider ... so I have twice as much stuff I wanna do instead of half! :(

Anyway - BOM ... I understand that ... thanks for explaining it to me. If people do a BOM swap ... that generally means one person does one month and make 12 blocks to share with 11 others and so on ... I am involved in an angel swap in another forum so I don't know if that's called BOM swap as well? I am hoping to do a Sunbonnet Sue quilt as well as a Sue swap.

Walmart is good to buy magazines because they are always "reduced" - have 10-20% off. I have to stay away from there ... I have too many things to do!!! I need to quit my job or retire! Smile.

Oh dear, I don't do swaps...........I have a hard enough time keeping up with what I am doing for me! Not sure if it is lack of time or just lack of focus beacause I want to start things before I finish others. Like you said, maybe after we retire and I have lots of free time..................

It sounds like fun though and it would be so great to open your mail box and have quilt blocks in it......................

Glad to have helped~ Some walmarts carry more quilt books than others~
We have finally started carrying more quilting fabric since there are several of us that quilt now and we work there. Just talk to your department manager of fabrics and ask. Most are willing to get what you want in! So did you get that book~
I think it would be neat for us to do that quilt (all of us) and post the pics~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We could ask questions that way if we had them and help each other out if needed! Oh my~ What did I just offer~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Norma, Angeluver, Joanne, are you game for this?????????????????????????????

I act as though I have nothing to sew on~~~~~~~~~~~~ ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just send me to the quilt nut farm~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

OKNana..........I have been happily (most days) married for over 38 years...........do you want him to just pack his bags and leave me?? I think another quilt at this stage in the game before I finish the several I have going would be the last straw! LOL

I plan to do this "someday" as I love Sunbonnet Sue and applique but I do my applique quilts by hand and without fuseable................so that SOMEDAY is a long ways off! Thanks for asking though...........................

Have fun and I will be here to hold your hand if needed.........

Oknana..............that is funny because I do hand work because I am not that good with the sewing machine.

I do enjoy it but I think that is because I have done some kind of hand work for years and years be it knitting or crochet, plastic canvas, counted cross stitch or applique. Just got to have some kind of needle in my hand, always have. Sewing is just a real struggle for me so I machine piece as long as it is straight seams and do the rest by hand. Most of my quilts have just been tied.
