My YD who is now 22 had this put to her for a homework assigment in high school. Talking about winning the lottery made me think of it. It was a hard thing to do but we worked on it for 14 hours and got it done. You have been given exactly one million dollars. You have 24 hours to spend it. You cannot invest it, or just keep it. You could buy a house (we know it takes more than 24 hours for that but for the money aspect it didn't). (You could book vacations, but not keep spending money out). He gave us some give on it. It has to be spent in 24 hours! There are no taxes on it, and you have to produce a ledger as how every penny was spent. The kids had 24 hours to write up there plan to spend it. They had to figure out prices (to their best ability). Needless to say the kids at first thought how easy. When they had to figure out the cost it got harder. My question is could you spend a million dollars in a 24 hour period? I know we did good on the first half but then it was getting harder trying to put stuff in. I went the route of finding things that would keep their value, so I would have something after 24 hours. So could you do it? Summer Summer

OK cheating here - $1000000 = £533.600 so give away 10% leaves me with £480,240 enough to buy a house. I need to sell mine in order to pay the stamp duty/solicitor but that's it - it's gone! love and kisses, Jan

I'd buy land/realestate, LOTS of it, there is new housing being built here as I type. It would be easy to buy, then rent or sell later at a profit. (of course I could buy out my fav fabric store/dealer that way too ) Chrys

Buy an existing, profitable factory. Use the 1 million as the down payment, then use the profits from the factory to make it pay for itself. Don't laugh...the Simplicity pattern company has paid for itself for buyers in business deals just like that three times! "No more twist! No more twist!"

You have been given exactly one million dollars. You have 24 hours to spend it. So could you do it? Summer Hey, no problem! I'd buy a big house on the lake for myself and husband. No way we could afford that sort of house normally, we'd have to win a lottery or something. Properties like that start pretty high around here. Then I'd buy a house each for my daughter, mom and sister. We'd love a big place down south where we could all live during the winter too. We all need new vehicles, and that would easily eat up anything left over. A motor home would be wonderful. We need new furniture too. I need a new hip, that's not cheap, I'd prepay the hospital to have it done later. I'd want to give some money to a couple of charities too. I think the problem would be running out of money too fast! LOL! These days a million doesn't go that far, believe it or not. The problem wouldn't be spending it, it would be how to stretch it far enough. Emmy |

Well, keeping in mind that I would only have 24 hours to spend the money and it takes a good month for buying RE minimum, I'd go to the nearest Honda dealership and buy as many Accords as I could and then resell them so I could get most of my money back and spend it over time. I'd also hire a massage therapist paid in advance for 3 massages per week. I'd buy several jacuzzies because with the profit from reselling the Accords I'd buy a place for a retreat and jacuzzies come in handy there. I'd give some away to my mom for safe keeping (ya right).... there are ways. I would buy a mercedes too - for me. |
