I was afraind I was going to have to start washing windows...or cleaning the oven...or something equally un-enchanting. Now...we're off and sewing again! Thanks Mary & Joanne! (Hey, Oklahomanana...race you to the cutting table!) |

Joanne & Mary, Do I get extra credit for just finishing a whole wall hanging of this block? My blocks were smaller though. I really liked doing this block, once I got the hang of it. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I nearly passed out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got to go check it out NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice block! I was going to ask a dumb question but think the light bulb just turned on!! A & C are the same fabrics so A goes vertical as well as horizontal and C fits in the corner to fill in so dark matches dark and light matches light, right? Never saw one of these before and after reading it 4 times I think I understand. Boy am I learning a lot doing these blocks! Have finally gotten my Sunbonnet Sue's close to being finished.-would be except I'm still trying to learn my new machine and of course I want to take advantage of the decorative stitches and writing available on it so it seems to be taking me forever to finish the blocks!! Sue went together real easy, it's just the "extra's" that are driving me crazy! Maybe I'll do this block and then go back to the other ones. Have to go find fabric for this one-wonder if I can find some with a mountain scene w/a lake somewhere.......hmmmmmm shopping I will go!! Sailorliz-I'm just laughing like crazy at your picture! Too cute!!! Lyn

Yes that is correct. If you place all your cut pieces you will see that when turning the triangle to match the color and make a corner it looks like a continued strip. This step avoids doing a Y Seam which alot of people hate lol |

Hey Joanne, I finished that one! when's the next? It has been my most accurately pieced block so far but I'm not entirely happy with my colour choice so I may need to try again. Trying to stick with the restricted palette, as I am, makes it tricky to find something that goes. It is a block that cries out for a real focal fabric - I had a fab piece of monet type flower fabric but it is just too busy. I may yet redo this one in another interpretation. I have been doing some exploratory shattered railroad blocks again in a blue/green/tan spectrum and have been trying to figure out a way to display them without losing their uniqueness but I didn't want to do straight sashing. This is a great way to convert them all to attic blocks and add an extra dimension to the contempory feel of the hanging. Most of the blocks are weird shapes by now so squaring them up into the focal fabric will make it look there is an abstract wall just outside the 'windows' Thanks for the inspiration. love and kisses, Jan

I've also finished mine, but am not really pleased. I don't have a digital camera right now, so I can't send a picture anyway. Maybe I'll try to do another block later.
Take care,
