Well, yesterday my dd (8) headed back to school after spring break. Our weather here has been a bit testy and it was cold. She broke her arm 3 weeks ago, so she has had it in a cast; but being inside I didn't worry about her getting too cold in short sleeves. As I checked our weather, I found it was 48 degrees. (cold for So Cal). So she had to wear her 13 yo sister's long sleeve shirt just so her cast would fit.
I rushed out yesterday and found a pattern with loose, billowy sleeves (thank goodness that is in style right now and available). I made one last night. And have at least 2 more planned for this week. She was so grateful. And the fit is wonderful.
Here is a link to her shirt. The pattern is Simplicity 5038:

What a good mommy you are!
What kind of fabric did you use? It looks really pretty.
Take care,

Perfect solution. When my daughter broke her collar bone ponchos were all the rage. Thank goodness, because she had to wear a brace and foam padding. This is the "first" time ponchos were popular. Many moons ago.

Thanks everybody :bg:
Its actually just a $2.00 cotton from Walmart. Whole shirt cost less than $4.00. A huge relief because I really couldn't afford to go out and buy a bunch of shirts like this. SO glad I can make them.
Mary, I am glad ponchos are back in style. I made each of my dds one in the fall, and it sure is coming in handy right now-lol!
