Good job guys! You're certainly fast. Flowers and butterflies...great spring things to dream about.

I have a fat quarter of birds in my stash...bought it on sale with no idea what I would do with it but just had to have it. There must have been a little birdie telling me that Joanne would create a block that I could use it in. Hope get it done on the weekend. Can't wait to see all the April blocks!

I have sent you my piccie Jo, worked well but I am not happy with my colour choice to go with my other monochromed moments so I will probably redo this. Still you can always turn unwanted blocks into potholders!

Susy your blocks are up in the album. Good job

Everyone has improved with their points already and doing great!

My goodness for those done and waiting for the next month may I suggest if you wish to do an extra block or two and send them to me for charity. I will gather and send to a local club for them to make quilts out of for kids. If you can do that email me at <email address removed for privacy> :bluewink:

They are all very pretty. I have some fabrics picked out. I will work on them next week. I have 4 sundresses to make before next Sat. for 4 of my great neices birthdays. We always celebrate 2 months at a time so there are 10 children with birthdays this timefor April & May. I have decided on homeade for the girls & store bought for the boys unless I come up with a good idea & extra time this week. HA Ha!! It is a good thing we stopped buying for the adults I think there are 8 of them in April & May.

Jan.............I have been trying to find something to go with my red, white and blue colors for my quilt...............and haven't found much so think I will follow you and just use my colors. It won't be much of a view but I will make another block with a view too. I found great yellow roses but of course they didn't have the same fabric with red ones!

Next time mighty teacher says use scraps, I will listen.......... :bang:

Thanks for the idea..........love your blocks.

Thanks Norma, I'm enjoying doing these. I have a LOT of black and white and greys so I am using scraps really. I plan on having the odd red hightlight just to lift it slightly. I figure if I run out of one colour it doesn't matter too much as the blocks are going to have to be positioned where I feel they balance in the quilt anyway. I wasn't planning on sewing them together in block order so small amount sof one colour can be 'seeded' throughout the pieced top. It will work that way with your red, white and blue as well. Your quilt will have a cohesion due to the colour theme not to mention the importance of getting a good contrast/combination with the sashing.

As I've said before - it will be interesting to see these all made up. Will there be a prize teach?

Do we get the last block and sashing and quilting to do in December Joanne? Will be a bit of a rush to get done for Christmas that way, perhaps we should have 2 blocks one month and then the sashing and quilting in December...

I see I accidentally named it my "March" block instead of my "April". I would just love to have a day where everything (including my mind), worked all at once! Today my hands aren't sore...but my brain lost a few weeks...

I would get more sewing done if I spent less time reading all the posts. Just love this site - and the quilt lessons.

Going to try another Window Block in more neutral colors - not crazy about my green. Wish we could all get together and trade scraps!

By the way, on my favorite knitting website someone suggested starting a support group called "SABLE" for those who have "Stash Accrued Beyond Life Expectancy". I had to laugh and thought of "all of us" right away. (I'm not there yet, but well on my way!)

I love the SABLE idea..............sounds like my sewing room closet. I keep saying I am not going to buy more but gee, I was in Joann's earlier this week and they had fat quarters on clearance for a $1...........so I just had to save some money and buy some...........

I keep telling DH that I am saving all this fabric for when we retire and our income is less..........then I won't have to buy any and I will have lots of time to use what I have up. The man just rolls his eyes at me for some odd reason. :nervous:

M & M, I have only quilted 3 yrs now and I am up to my 3rd bag~ To me this is a SABLE~ It is at least for me~ LOL~~~~~~~~~
Cute Cute~ I loved it.
I know what you mean about spending less time reading and doing more sewing! But we sure wouldn't be having all this fun and seeing each other's blocks and encouraging each other, and meeting everyone~ And we would of never know Joanne or Mary W! Then we would not have blocks to do~~~~~~~~~~ The list goes on and on and on! ROFL~~~~~~ So we sew a little and then we do puter a little! LOL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hey Joanne, I finally sent you my sunbonnet sue blocks.

I've been having a really hard time with Singer and my new machine. It keeps jamming up in the bobbin area, has been in for repair twice and traded out for a new machine once. Went to pick it up again today, sat down at one of their tables-I'm through taking it home first! and it jammed up immediately. Left it threaded the way the repair guys did it etc. The gal working in the store today sat down, did everything she knew to do and sent me home with the floor model today until they can figure out what's going on with mine. Works like a charm so finished up all 3 of my Sunbonnet Sue blocks this afternoon within a couple hours. Amazing what you can do when your machine works!! Hoping to have April blocks done by Tuesday-I'm taking Mon & Tues off work-need a mental health break! LOL.

Thanks for the complements. Those are my 3 favorite things to look out the window at. Did the light strip go on the left side of the block and the dark on the bottom? Was just wondering when I look at the blocks in the album. Everyones looks great, think we all need to pat ourselves on the back!!

When is May?

Hold on!!! I am still out here trying to find something that will go with my red/white and blue color scheme......................looked at more fabic than usual and nothing seems to fit. Have gone through all my books and magazines looking for a small applique..............have about hit the wall here but still looking. Joannne..............April might not get there until later. I KNOW there is something out there that will work!!!! Not sure why having this all go together is so important to me but it is.

Just a thought, how about something with the American Flag blowing in the breeze of spring?

I don't know how to use one either!! I just take the block over to my son's and get them to take a picture and send it to me!! All I do is send it in. Works for me and I get to play with 9 month old grandson while the picture is being taken. :bolt: Donna :Canada:

Jo-I sent you my first attic window block. Will get 2 more done as soon as I can find the pictures I want to use. Had some trouble matching the corners but I ripped it out several times so have accepted what I have so far. Hopefully it will be easier with the 2nd one!

thanks Joann-the corners probably are ok...it's just me trying to be perfect again I guess LOL

The kids are my granddaughter, Alicia who turns 2 in June and my oldest grandson Justin who is 6. Cuties aren't they? This block will go in the quilt for Alicia's mom. Trying to get a pic of all 3 of the grandkids for my quilt and my daughter's (the proud aunt) quilt before doing the blocks for ours.

Can you believe May is a week away! How time flys. Do you think Mary will have the block posted by May 2nd? Will it have anything to do with dancing around the may pole? We did that when I was in school a long time ago. Do they even do it any more? Hopalongdonna :bg: :Canada:

all i have to say is they all look great. I manged to do block 1 and that is it. My life has become to busy to work on the other blocks. I am in the process of getting ready to move and i have put all project aside. I started a log cabin quilt for my aunt, I have another quilt i was making but i forgot how to do the corners on the binding so i have left off the binding good thing that is my own quilt. I have 2 more quilts to make for friends. Maybe in the fall i can start again.
