Hi. I posted earlier about this beach bag that I'm having a problem with. UGH! Anyway, the pattern originally called for fusible vinyl, but since neither I nor the lady that I am making the bag for knew what fusible vinyl was or where you could get it until after I'd already ready cut out and put together most of the purse, we didn't use it. I thought the thick home dec fabric that we used for the lining would create enough stability, but it didn't. The bag is way too floppy. What type of stabilizer or interfacing could I use to give the beach bag some structure. Whatever I use most hold up though. It is a beach bag and will be getting used a lot and be getting wet. Can anyone help me out? -Danielle |

If you have the fusible vinyl, could you fuse it on at this time? How much structure do you want? Perhaps plastic canvas inserted between the outside and the lining would help. Although this would make it very stiff-it will not crush or fold. |

I have seen a lot of the fabric purses now being made with Timtex. This is a nice this interfacing that gives a lot of body. It's the same stuff they use to make the fabric bowls. HTH! |

There is a fusible vinyl but off hand I can't remember where I saw it. If I do I'll let you know. If you make another beach bag you can use the sew in vinyl. Just use a teflon foot to sew on it. |

Will the fusible vinyl give the beach bag enough structure to stand up, but enough give to bend and fold? (I'm asking a lot, huh) |

I have never used the fuseable so I don't know a thing about how structured it is. There are a number of weights of vinyl that you sew in so I'm sure there is one that will hold up plus fold. You can buy just vinyl beach bags & they do work great. I'd go look at the different weights & you should be able to tell what one would work best. Vinyl comes very wide so it won't take much & won't be expensive. I know Jo Anns sells it but you could just phone around in your area. |

for stability in tote bags etc. I use a pellon craft stabilizer.. very stiff.. works great for handbags... You can get it at Walmart or Joann's just my 2 cents... MO life is too short, not to explore
