Yesterday I was working on making 80 some half-square triangles for a quilt that I'm working on. I was wondering if anyone has a tip on how to cut the "dog ears" from the ends? It seems there has got to be a quicker way to cut those off, rather than one by one, with a few blocks stacked on top of each other. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

That is the only way I have found, Liz. I hope someone can come up with a better way too.

I really don't cut any of mine for the simple reason is they lay still and are great for lining up seams when sewing rows. |

Now she tells us...........I hate those things and really have to think to make sure I cut them the right direction because it does make a difference in how it lays. Will try it without trimming....................and then do the happy dance!! |

I've had to get in the habit of cutting those dog ears off, because last time I left them on, you could see them through the front of the quilt.... Not a good thing I just trim them with my scissors. But sometimes I will put them in a jar and either give them to the person I gave the quilt to, or I dump them in a big jar I have here, to remind me of all the things I've made. I just can't waste anything... I've got to say too... it's been 2 years since I've visited the site, and I must say it's come a LONG way... it's good to be back Happy Quilting, Kelly United We Stand

My husband would be happy if I left them on because they seem to take on a life of their own and end up all over the house! He just makes faces as I pick strings of thread off his clothes as he goes out the door but those little dog ear things are really the last straw I think....................but if I clean them up as I go I lose valuable quilting time!!! |

What's a dog ear? There are so many people out there who have guts to make triangle blocks! Any advice for scared chickens like me to start trying to make triangle blocks??? I tried once and failed ... been scared since! - Brenda -

Carman, I was wondering and have been doing lots of reading about this WonderCut Ruler. It says you have one.??/ Do you like it? Is it worth the money? I have told my hubby I want one for my birthday next week and he says well let's order it. I am thinking I will like it. It looks simple enough. Is the book worth getting? Or can I understand it withhout it. I went to the site and ran off a small book about it~ 35 pgs or so!!!!!!!!! But I think this is what I want, but I will wait on a reply from you on it.
