DD's Bridal Shower is next month and I would love to do something different in the way of games and gifts. Do any of you have any ideas that would be fun to do or to give? Help!!!!!

Well i just went to my sister-in-laws bridal shower and we played some fun games....one was a purse search...they listed several items one might find in a purse and had points for each...then we played bride bingo....and then all of a sudden the bride to be dissappeared and we had to remember what she had on, did she have on nail polish and what color, how long was her skirt or did she have on pants and the color, did she have a design on her shirt and how she wore her hair stuff like that....for tie brakers they asked questions about when did she get engaged, where did it happen.....it was loads of fun....the gifts were chololates and candles.....nothing real expensive....

Hope this helped

This idea is so old, its probably new to this current generation.. When I got married in 1959, my matron of honor bought dish toweling by the yard, and brought needles and threads, cut each person a dishtowel and instructed them to hem them and then embroider their initials on them and gave a time frame. She demonstrated two different hemming stitches for novices, and then everyone went to work.. In 30 minutes I had over a dozen dish towels.. My Mom suggested I not use all of them at the same time, so I put some of them away for the future.. I still have 3 of them.. I only had to make new ones about 5 years ago.. I thought that was the best shower entertainment we ever had.. Even the two 12 year olds there made a towel for me.. My sister, and future sister-in-law.. They did small basting stitches and I treasured them the most , I think..

I just went to an interesting kitchen theme shower. In addition to the normal kitchen gift, each guest was sent recipe cards and asked to bring 5 favorite recipes and also bring a spice that started with each of your initials. Not a game, but unique gift idea. Perhaps you could combine it with the neat kitchen towel idea above. Congrats on the upcoming wedding!!

At one I went to we played the price is right. They loaded a laundry basket with all kinds of different items. We had to guess the prices. I was way off but it was fun. They had quite a bit of variety of things in it, from food to housewares to personal items.
As far as gifts I think that is the hardest thing to come up with. At one shower we had the fish in a very nice vase with the plant in it. One per table, was like the big prize. They had us all fill out an envelope with our address on them, they drew names from these. Another shower I was at had homemade candies. Lot of work to do but everyone seemed to like them.
