I bet. I can hear the words now. At least you didn't get what they got out in Denver over the week end. It has been beautiful here but we do need rain.

Hide in your husbands' Greenhouse, Mary.
It is spring here. Birds are shouting in the window at 5 a.m. o joy.

Nice look to the site, are we able to get the drop down menu headings back? I bet you changed to the tape measure because of the chile hanging off the tomato, 'eh? Told you it wasn't a strawberry!

I'd send ya some rain....we got another 5" overnight here....heavy sigh. We had no spring, just went right into summer and the rain. We have had so much rain that people who had major damage to their houses during the hurricane, they got into them 2 wks ago and now they can't live in'em because they've flooded...it's a mess here...again and again....

Luckily they didn't hit here....I live about 25 mi inland...they usually hit around the coast (unless they're spawned by hurricanes). We're fine thanks !!! We just had LOTS of tornado warnings. 70 Easter wknd, 20 last wk....last night I didn't bother to look..the rain started about midnight and I didn't care...(my roof is new and I live on a small hill, yay the water runs DOWN the street....)

Next week we get a new fence, to replace the one the neighbors tree took down during Ivan.....

I'm also STILL waiting on furniture I ordered BEFORE Ivan...7 mnths ago....(Ethan Allen, and their time line is 8-12 WKS)..hhhhmmm...ya know....they keep using the Ivan excuse...) :bang:

Mary!!! We have been having flurries today and yesterday... What is going on.. Did the baby angels get in the programming and control room and start pulling handles and pushing buttons again? :nervous: I told Gabriel they could get out of that of those new baby angel locks on the nursery windows.

It's been geogeous here all week. I have walking around a nice park we have with a walking trail all around it and no geese to chase you at this park. Just moss hanging from the cyprus trees and a nice view of the bayou along the path. I wish I would have found this place earlier I've been there lots of times but didn't realize how pretty it was until I started the walk around. Just georgeous. Yesterday I took the girls with me and today one of the DGS's went with me with his skate skooter. I think he actually walked it twice he's peddle up a ways and then walk back to me and then go again. It's one mile but that's all I can do at the moment my legs get tired and my feet and legs start to burn. I'm going to have to check that out with the doctor why I'm getting that burning feeling in my legs. Anyway, Sorry Mary but we are actually getting a nice spring this year for a change. By now it's usually so hot and humid you can't go out without coming in soak and wet.

Here, we have been having a typical BC spring...warm and wet. Daffs are done and the tulips are just past their prime.
Looked out the window late Monday night and lo and behold, there are dinner plate sized snow flakes falling! HUbby didn't believe me, so he went outside and got one full in the face. LOL
Next morning there was half an inch of slush covering everything. By noon, warm and sunny. Like they say, if you don't like the weather, wait a bit...it'll change.

Mary, nice weather is on the way; don't despair. I went to see dad in NB last week and couldn't believe it: about 3ft of snow on the ground. I left Montreal without boots. It rained for 3 days so I didn't really need my boots as we didn't go for our walks.

It's been very nice over here; the grass is getting green, trees are beginning to show some buds and spring flowers are slowly pushing their way up. We're getting there.

Southern Alberta got in on the snow act during the night last night. Not much, just enough to cover the rooftops and the tops of cars. It looks cold, though and the wind is blowing so who knows what we'll have before the day is over.

What hoot about the weather. Here I am up in the snow belt (usually 7 months.) Frequently have snow in April and have had practically none since Feb. It is however, very dusty from sanded roads and no rain - cough, cough , sneeze, wheeze. Bulbs starting to come up about as expected, but some other perenials that should be later are coming up, risking a hard freeze that we still could get. Still very few buds on trees and grass very brown, but a few birds around. I HAVE PUT AWAY MY WINTER BOOTS, and lost the usual 5 pounds. Used to be 10 pounds, but now coats are lighter and more comfortable. Love wool, but love the fleece and microfibres more. North Central :Canada:

We have had such beautiful weather for 3 weeks. The weather man said this morning to expect snow Saturday and Sundayl. The only good part is it won't stay around very long and will give some much need moisture to the ground.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!   in April. Oh you poor dears. We are enjoying our spring weather. Hardly any rain and the humidity has been so low 25% which it's hardly ever that low. The kids are having nose bleeds with it being so low.

Spring is here - sun, warm, showers, hail, cold, ground frost, air frost then the cycle goes around again sun, warm, showers, hail.....

We had that glorious moment last month when you notice that the wind is blowing but it is no longer biting cold, more like a soft warm breeze with hidden at the back of it, a hint of flowers. That first day, that day when the seasons turns, that for me is the first day of Spring. It can then rain for weeks afterwards but you know the earth has turned around once more and is tilting toward the sun.

Started Sat and still going on! The snow will melt tomorrow, since it is suppose to get up to the 50's. So far 6 inches, very wet heavy snow. Just hope the new trees that we planted last year and started to flower this spring are okay.

 I think the weather Gods have had a nervous breakdown.. Here in western North Central Canada, today it was 27C (75F). I had to unpack a trunk to find shorts and shortsleeve tshirts and clean the dust off the fans I usually put in each room in July!!

The high yesterday was around 70F which is cool for us this time a year. The low was in the 50'sF. We took the pool cover off today so it won't be long the kids will be splish splashing. Not me the water temp needs to be at least 85F for me to get in Burrrrrr but the kids have no blood so they can take it. I'm a wuss what can I say.

we got about 3 or 4 inches of very heavy snow last night & throughout the day today. At least it isn't sticking to the roads. Last week we tied a record high of 81 degrees now this. Maybe we will finally get spring!

They keep talking snow and rain showers this morning but so far it's pretty clear. That doesn't mean much though. I've seen it clear on one side of the street and raining or snowing on the other.
But they also say temps in the 50s tomorrow so it's not too bad.
That's the way spring is around here.

It has been raining here off and on for two days. Gusty winds too, the neighbours sandbox blew in our yard this morning. You would have thought a 747 had landed with the noise it made.

We actually had blizzard conditions this past weekend. My youngest daughter was bound and determined to head back to college yesterday. I showed her the weather reports from NOAA on their web page and told her she would be driving in bad weather. Well to make a long story short, she ended up turning around. She called from another town crying and was scared to death to drive anymore. So my other daughter and son in-law went and rescued her. Geez, these kids can be so bull-headed at times. They think they are invincible. Well, if anyone wants to see the snow we have in our backyard. I put a couple of pictures up on my photo album, under misc. It is starting to melt and the sun is trying to peek through the clouds.

Yikes Liz, that looks cold.
We're snowed under with blossom here and the rape is releasing that sweet heady smell across the town. Slightly cloying and yet fragrant - like an old ladies perfume that has been worn for too long without washing...

Hi Magot,

rape =oilseed rape - when you get the seeds you crush them to get a vegetable oil which is a monounsaturated oil(like olive oil but cheaper). If you buy vegetable oil in the UK it is normally rapeseed oil unless it states that it is sunflower oil or something else. The fields look like this http://www.pearceseeds.co.uk/pearce-seeds/oilseed-rape.html
It is a member of the bean family which means that it can also be used for silage and regenerates the nitrogen levels in the soil.

Vast swathes of the English countryside are under this crop - the pollen is a fine yellow dust which is highly allegenic.

It smells.

A lot

Here endeth the crop production lesson

Magot,

Thanks for the lesson! I can say I learned something new today. I'm not for sure if they grow that here in the USA. We have farms in the area where I live, but the season is short. Mostly dairy and potatoe farms. We have la lot of lilac trees and shrubs and I love their fragrance when they bloom in the spring.

In canada and the states rapeseed is marketed as Canola Oil, purely b/c of the name. That's my trivia for the day  :Canada:
