Hi all you beautiful people! I'm new. I made a pattern out of one of my old doctor's smocks and now I'm having problems with the collar. It has lapels and I do not have instructions and when I took the first collar off, I do not remember how they had it put together.
Can anybody help me?
thanks

Do you have....a smock front with a lapel (backside), a back, a lapel with facing and a two piece collar? Chances are about 90 to 1 that you are trying to install the collar upside down because it looks backwards when you go to install it. (By the way, next time you take something like this apart, take a pencil, chalk or something and mark straight lines between the parts before you take them apart...these become (like) notches and points of reference when you go to put it together...seems silly when you do it, but is a life saver later. (The undercolor may just be a rounded piece that more or less just goes from side to side, fitting rather flat to the front and back, or it may be fit in kind of like a brick going into a wall and you have some corners to turn at the shoulders.

If this is the set-up, sew the garment together at the shoulders. Sew the under collar in the space provided at the back and front. Interface and sew the top collar and lapel. There will just be a small space to be attached and then the color will turn away from the lapel. Then pin and sew around the entire lapel and collar to attach it to the front/back pieces.
