Sew What’s Up Presents

The Sew What’s New Archive

This archived content is from Mary Wilkins’ sewing and quilting message board “Sew What’s New,” which was retired in August 2007. It is being provided by “Sew What’s Up,” which serves as the new home for many members of “Sew What’s New.”

I will soon be starting a newsletter for those of you who do NOT frequent the boards on a regular basis. It will be links to the discussions we have had the past week.

I need a name for this newsletter. What shall I call it? Keep in mind I have a sewing tip, a quilting tip and a general weekly newsletter. This has to have some sort of distinction from them in the title.

The one who dreams up the winning name for this newsletter will receive a prize. As soon as I know what it is I will announce. LOL.

Short, descriptive and to the point - except we don't really bitch a lot! Moan occasionally and howl at the moon....

I like the threads idea Chrys,
"Latest threads"
"Sewing threads"
or you could just go for
"So, what's new?"

Do you like making work for yourself Mary with another newsletter? :bluewink:

How about

The Sew What's New Update
Or

The Sew What's New Bulletin

Both names make it clear that they are related to the website and what's new there.

I think it would be less confusing that way.

Patsy, do you know Kelly George? he is an attorney up that way. I know him, his family from Snyder really well. We all went to church together when we lived in Snyder. His parents just moved a few months ago from a beautiful home in Snyder. They had it built yrs ago and it was beautiful on the inside!

No sorry Okie Nana. I don't know George Kelly. There are only about a million and one attorneys here in Oklahoma City. I've probably seen the name, however, on pleadings I've worked on here in the AG's office.

You know, I'd really rather have a Yahoo group, than post online in an open forum like this. We sometimes discuss health issues and family matters, and this isn't very private.

So, rather than having an update newsletter, I'd rather just have a group where we can post and know that only members who sign up will read it.

What do you think Mary?

If you aren't interested in running a group like that, I could set one up independently. I already have a few groups at Yahoo and have been considering it. One more wouldn't be much trouble, as long as I got some moderators to help out.

I've been thinking about starting a group for women, to deal with family, women's health issues, sewing and fitting problems for larger women, and anything else we are interested in talking about, just a freindly place to chat. Sort of like this forum, but not public.

Feedback anyone?

I refused to join Yahoo groups because of the ads they force on you.. Our sewing guild had all kind of problems with them...

Emmy, you go for it if you think it is better that way. I agree, these forums are very public. I am doing my thing to try and bring a little extra income into the site for upkeep, space, etc. Never easy. If you want to have private groups be my guest.

I'm in countless yahoo groups. I find the ads are not a problem, because when I sign up for any group, I just choose the plain text option. No ads.
