Is this a bad idea? I'm tempted to try it (this would be bust darts in the bodice of a sundress), but am afraid that it would add bulk and not lie smooth. Thoughts?

Darts take extra fullness out and make the garment fit better. If your sundress needs darts, you should put them in. It will look better. Just be sure that you add enough to the side of your pattern to make up for the amount you took out with the dart.

How stretchy is the knit? I accidentally used a knit (this was one of my first sewing projects, so it was lack of knowledge), for a dress with a bust dart and the dart slowly slid down my chest the more I wore the dress and eventually was a couple of inches too low because the knit stretched out, so be careful of that.
