Anyone have any suggestions for crafts that a four year old can do for Mother's Day? My grand daughter and I try to surprise Mom with a special handmade gift. I then modify it for her two year old brother so he has something for Mom too. She is pretty good with a paint brush and loves lots of color.

Last year we painted terra cotta pots and pasted family pictures on fun foam flowers, put them on pipe cleaner stems and of course, added some glitter. This year I have no ideas and we need to get started as it goes slow, especially with my grandson and his two year old attention span of four minutes tops.

How about those stepping stone kits they have at the hobby stores. I have always wanted to do those with my kids. You could put the kids footprints in them or let them put colored stones all over them. Lots of things you could do with those.

A Shrinky Dink sun catcher. My two year old doesn't do to well with the coloring yet but he really enjoys watching them shrink in the toaster oven.

How about letting them paint a picture and put it in a nice frame. I love hanging my kids artwork this way. Makes it look like I spent a lot of money on designer art  .

Thanks Gina for the ideas..............they did the garden stepping stone for me last Mother's Day with their Mom, but I think they would love the shrink plastic. Guess it is off to the craft store.................

If you go to BHG website they have lots of crafts for kids to make mom. I do the stepping stones each year for my grandchildren to give mom. The oldest is now 5 the youngest is 7 months. The 5 year old will have the most cluttered one, and the 7 month old will just have the hand and foot print with the date.
When I was teaching we did these too and the moms seemed to like them. Wish my kids had done this when I was a young mom.

My two year old grand son loves tools and being in the garage with his Papa, so I think wthey are going to build a bird house and they can paint it. I will look for something small for them so they each have a individual gift so will check out that site..............thanks!

How about decorating a picture frame? Then put a picture of the kids in it.
In Bible school one year, we let the kids glue things onto picture frames. I brought boxes full of trims, ribbon roses, charms, buttons, etc. Even screws, nuts, washers, and bolts. That was a hit with the boys. Would be good for father's day.

Hand prints on plates are always a good one for the little ones. As well as trivets. My daughter had made me a trivet that had stones in it, made much like the stepping stones are. She loved that I actually was able to use it and had it on display every day in the kitchen.
Don't be so open minded your brains fall out.

Something about your childrens crafts that make them so special. I have a complete set of the pine cone turkey's from my DC. I have enough to have them as a centerpiece and name cards. Every year the kids would come home with these and they were so happy when I would use them. I find them so precious to me that I will not get rid of them. Now that my children have their own DC they all laugh at how they are receiving these wonderful gifts.

My Christmas decorations have all the things my kids made in school. So when we trim the tree, everyone has several on there. My daughter wanted the one she made in kindergarten for her tree and I said no way. She said well, it was hers after all and I told her no it wasn't, she made it as a present in school for ME! :re:

I love how proud they are when they make something.
