Not really a question, just wanted to show off some pictures, cause I think it came out pretty good. Just have to add buttons / holes yet. Also, for guys who want to learn, it is possible, since I'm a guy ! http://webpages.charter.net/nikolatesla20/sew/shirt4.jpg http://webpages.charter.net/nikolatesla20/sew/shirt5.jpg The cloth is slightly see thru, and has a cool squiggly little lines pattern on it. I don't know if it was made for "garments" but I thought the cloth would make a cool looking shirt so I bought it. This is actually only my 3rd sewing project. It went a little faster than the first shirt... -niko |

You're really doing a great job and having fun too, I bet. What made you decide you want to sew? Dorothy |

What made you decide you want to sew? Dorothy Well, one day I came home and my wife had gotten one of those little "dressmaker" sewing machines and she was altering the length of some pants with it. This brought back to my mind how my mom used to buy patterns and sew stuff when I was a kid (although I don't remember wearing anything she had made). I'm just a guy who loves to learn new things, so all of a sudden I was like "I gotta learn how to do this stuff!". I work on computers all day and it's nice to work with my hands when I get the chance. My wife then got this awesome dress on the discount rack for $20 (to wear to a wedding we were going to attend). It was so cheap because the center back zipper was broken. She figured she could sew in a new one. We realized it would be better to have a real sewing machine so I bought her one (because we could use it for other alterations, etc, as well), also made sure it had enough features since I wanted to try learning how to make basic t-shirts and the store clerk said you needed a zig-zag stitch for knits (turns out you don't need it, but it does help). The nice thing is I got a machine with a one step buttonholer and it's made my shirtmaking much easier ! Then I saw patterns for men's shirts with collars and I got really excited because I thought it would be so cool to know how these shirts are made since I wear them all the time, as well as I wear suits a lot. I also found a pattern to make a tie. My first project of course was the tie, since it was more "simple". Then I moved on to a collar/stand shirt (what you need for a tie). Then this is now a shirt without a stand. -niko |

Beautiful job Niko. That shirt is really nice.. I , too , choose fabrics that maybe someone else would hesitate to use.. My first rule is it has to be washable.. I do not do the dry clean thing.. Most of my fabrics come home, get the ends serged and then get washed and dried and folded , ready to be used for creating something awesome for someone..Sometimes, even for me..Keep up the good work..

Great job Niko!! I buy fabrics that aren't expressly for garments too and love what I can create. Both my boys know how to sew, which is good because neither of their wives know how and have no desire to learn either! I think it's wonderful that you have tackled these projects. They do get easier the more you make as you are finding out! Keep up the great work
