OK. I know some of you were a little worried about wether this was legitimate or not. It is. Here is the one currently listed on eBay with the permission of the district.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8185668614

Here is what happened.

The school district bought 30 of these and we were going to offer the class in our Life Science program. Due to a lack of funding at the state level and classes/staff being cut, this program was eliminated. This puts us with 30 Bernina Bernette sewing machines brand new and still in the box. We tried asking the vendor to refund the cost and they refused. The district has 300 into each machine and has to get that out of each. I have four sold already which leaves me with 26 left. I'm hoping the one on eBay sells for the reserve and than I can start listing others.

I thought I would post and see if anybody here is interested in taking advantage of this offer.

I'm not like the salesman who sets up office and tries to sell you something and then bolts. All these machines have a full warranty and would be servicable from any authorized dealer.

Here is my email address where I can be contacted if interested or if you have questions. I can forward your email to the building principal and I know she would be willing to verify this if you are skeptical.

Thanks for reading!

Rather than forward emails to someone who may or may not be the building principal, why not tell us the school district?
I would hope no one purchases a machine without that information.

Dear Dorothy,

You are killing me here. You need to be a little more trusting. Not all people in this world are cruel and misguided.

I work for Brainerd Public Schools in Brainerd, MN. My principal is Dr. Carol Munns. I work in a 6-9 building named Forestview Middle School. I'm 38 years old and have been teaching for 15 years. I have green eyes and brown hair. I'm 5' 11" tall and have three little kids. My wife is a Speech Therapist working in the same school district.

Anything else?????

This is a real deal. I was asked to see about selling them. The Super and my Principal are very busy people. They would be happy to verify to anybody who is interested.

Sincerely,

Jim Reed aka A VERY honest person.

Dear Jim Reed,
I think you need to relax a little.. just about a month ago, someone posted here with a long sob story about why she was having to sell all this fabulous sewing equipment, and it was all a LIE... Someone found out about it and warned the rest of us.. We are a close knit group of sewers from around the world here.. Yes, we are interested in good buys, but we are more interested in not losing our hard earned money.. Gives us more to spend on fabrics.. LOL .. We only asked to make sure you were on the up and up.. Now , thank you for furnishing the required information.. Now, anyone who is interested can proceed as they see fit..I hope your sale is successful. Nobody was doubting you, we just asked you to give more information.. I bet if you were buying a car, you would have asked questions just like Dorothy did.. Seriously, we are all friends here.. Welcome to the site, and come back any time...

I know that some are out to make a fast buck and bolt. With running quite a few websites for clients, I know how people can take advantage of others using the internet.

If you feel this is a fair deal and are interested in learning more, feel free to drop me an email. As a result of this posting and another on a similair board, I have been able to sell two more. Only 24 left!!! I think by the end of the summer, before school is back in full swing, I should have the rest sold! The Super and building principal are going to owe me big!

Thanks for letting me post. I really do love the power of the internet!
