Hi all, I just finished a neck pillow that has a pillowcase with an invisible zipper. Here's the link for the completed pillow (it's a big pic, sorry): http://home.comcast.net/~raeven_flyte/images/Picture_127.jpg I didn't find the instructions all that simple to follow, and it seems that I'm not understanding something fundamental about zipper placement. The ends of the zipper are sticking out on each side...see the pic at the link (a big and somewhat blurry pic, sorry about that too). What did I do or not do? ****New edit: I should say that the rest of the zipper looks like an invisible zipper--it's just that the ends are sticking out. I followed instructions (which was not the easiest thing in the world, I must say) but after sewing the seam of the entire pillow, I found the ends not enclosed in the seam. Gee, it's hard explaining stuff--I'll get better! http://home.comcast.net/~raeven_flyte/images/Picture_126.jpg Otherwise, it functions as a pillow, but I'd like to make another one (without resorting to velcro). Any comments? I'd appreciate it! |

I've heard that those zippers can be put in with a zipper foot. I have the cheap plastic feet you can buy in a kit to fit any machine....especially made for invisable zippers and I like it best. In reading the instructions that come with the feet it looks like you are putting in the zipper backwards and wrong......NOT.....when you finish, you can not see any part of the zipper, only a seam! The zipper is sewn in BEFORE you do the seam, that may be your problem, (the fuzzy picture was a little hard to see). Then seams are made at each end of the zipper. I like the shape of your pillow, and the fabric colors. Betty |

What I see, looks like you stitched like a regular zipper.. You cannot do that.. The way I learned , it took two of us to get it right on the first try.. One to read the instructions aloud, step by step, very sloooowly..and One to stitch..you have to read every word and do exactly what it says.. I used the little plastic foot that came with the zipper..When we finished , it was perfect.. I just knew it was not gonna work.., but it did ! ! ! I love the fabric and the pillow shape..

I've never used an invisible zipper either, so I read this thread with interest. I'm plannning to try it soon. Am I supposed to buy a special foot for these zippers? I have never seen on in the fabric stores, but then, I wasn't looking for one, since I didn't know they exist. Sparky

Just ask for the invisible zipper foot. They are usually by the zippers.

I bought the invisible zipper feet (if they're invisible, how did I buy them, ha-ha) and attempted to put one on the machine without any luck. I have a Euro-pro, which is one of those machines that is inexpensive because the company is hard to find and offers no support. I ended up using my zipper foot that came with the machine and that seemed to be okay. Except for those parts sticking out, of course. |

The one invisible zipper I inserted with my Sister's help as I said previously, had instructions on the package for using a regular zipper foot also..
