Hi ,

I just got a Kenmore embroidery/sewing machine and can't figure it out
very well either , but I keep plugging away. When I go to embroidery my
thread keeps getting tangled on the bottom of my project. Oh well I am
going to try again tonight. Maybe there are just too many bells and whistles
for this old lady.

Hello ladies and welcome to Sew-Whats-New. Marilyn sounds like your bobbin is not threaded correctly if you're getting thread nests on the bottom of your work. Check your manual to see which way the thread should wind off the bobbin once it has been dropped into the bobbin assembly and also make sure you're threading the bobbin case properly.

My best guess is that you need to raise the presser foot to thread the top of your machine (every time you change threads). This opens your tension guides and as you thread the machine, the threads drop into place. If this is not done, you have huge thread nests in the bobbin area.

I really enjoy my Kenmore 19010. I posted some hints and the link to the yahoo group that is more than 500 happy 19010 owners a couple of weeks ago.

There is nothing about your machine that hasn't been discussed on the yahoo group and the ladies are always happy to help a new member. Take some time to look at the group files and search the message archives I found it very helpful when I started out (2 years in April, I bought my machine the day my 3rd son was born, kind of makes it easy to remember).

I would be happy to help with questions here, but if you have access to the yahoo group - why reinvent the wheel.

You will really enjoy your machine. It has many of the Janome TOL features at a fraction of the cost.

Where is Fraser Michigan? I grew up near Grand Rapids, and my parents are still there.

Another suggestion, are you stabilizing your fabric??? If you don't you get thread nests as well.
