I am home from work today because of a stupid accident Monday evening. I had gone to the grocery store and when I came home instead of letting my dh carry the groceries in like he usually does, I tried to carry a lazy man load and when I got to the kitchen and thought I had set one of the bags up on the counter, I wasn't paying a lot of attention and only got half the bag onto the counter and a big jar of jelly fell out of the bag and landed on top of my right foot between my toes and the arch of my foot. I worked yesterday and went practically barefooted all day in the office limping around like a wounded duck and this morning when I got up my foot was really hurting all the way up my ankle. I'm not going to the doctor because all he'll do is take and x-ray and if I have a broken toe or a small broken bone in the top of my foot, he'll put me in one of those silly looking soft walking cast for the next 6 weeks. I've pretty much stayed off it and put ice on it and it feels like it's getting better. I just can't believe I have such stupid accidents.

Wear a tennis shoe laced up tight. Thats what the doctor told me to do last year when I did that.

The beginning of February I didn't see a step and rolled my ankle. Swelled like crazy and even today by the time I get home it will have some swelling. I had an ankle brace but it put too much pressure on the swelling. I found it more bearable without it. Taught school with my foot up for a few days. The PE teacher would bring me ice for it which felt really good. I always figure the accident is stupid but I'm not

Well...not lately I haven't...but last year my sister stepped off a curb and broke her ankle...she has no idea..she was walking the dog, took a step, and remembers her dog licking her face. She now has chips in her ankle (they don't want to take them out) and pain when it rains....(since she lives in OR, it rains almost all the time).

I'm 'mysteriously' bruised a lot...(which means I hit the furniture and don't pay attention till it's pointed out to me I have bruises) Well meaning people where I worked once, called the cops because I was bruised...they just knew I was being beaten...well no...I had a bad reaction to some meds, but they didn't bother to ask me, just called the cops...

So I guess I have 'bruising' accidents all the time, I just don't pay attention any more...(old and feeble minded :whacky: )

About 10 years ago I had spent the day really cleaning the kitchen. I have a doorwall that leads out to the patio. I was buzzing around the kitchen trying to get eveything in order and get dinner going. My kids were busy at the table doing my D's school project. I had closed the doorwall, and forgot I did. In my hurry to get things moving so I could reclaim my kitchen table, I went to go in the backyard to pick some veggies. I ran into the doorwall so hard, I bounced back, hitting the table and ruining the project, ending up on the floor out cold. I had hit my nose which caused my nose to bleed, I had this huge bump on my forehead. The kids of course paniced, called 911 and off I went to the ER. I ended up okay, had a swollen nose and a black eye, and the brusie. The advice I got from the Dr was put something on your window so you will know it is closed! The kids decided it was a good idea and put a sun catcher on it. Well I didn't have the heart to tell them that I wouldn't have even seen that, I was doing to many things at one time and not paying attention.

My poor toes get it all the time..............I have broken both little toes, one of them twice! I have broken a couple of the other ones too. I no longer go to the dr for it either, because they put me on crutches and that is another accident asking to happen. Last hurt toe was when my grandson dropped his full sippy cup right on my toe.............must have been at just the right angle because sure enough Nana was limping for a couple of weeks.

It is common knowledge for anyone who knows me that I cannot walk and chew gum at the same time. Never have been able to and my poor daughter has the same problem. We are naturally accident prone and after you know us for a while you just get used to it and go with the flow.

I feel for you Patsy...........if your feet hurt, you hurt all over! Just find a nice place to put your foot up and sew...............Take care.

Well, I have learned to check my chair when I am crafting and using my hot glue gun. Especially, after I drop it. Seems like hot glue cools too fast on projects when you are trying to place things, but will stay hot forever just waiting for your tush to hit the seat of the chair.

Well, I finally went to the doctor and I have a small broken bone in the top of my foot in the area between the 2 toes next to my big toe on my right foot and the bottom of my arch. He laughed and said that the impact of a 16 oz jar of jelling falling from cabinet counter height to the floor was about 45 lbs and that I'm lucky it didn't break more than just one little bone. Because of where the major bruising is, dh and I think the edge of the jar lid caught my foot just in that particular spot. Anyhow, I declined a walking cast and consented to have an ace bandage instead. Those walking casts are hot and uncomfortable. Will probably take 2-3 weeks to heal before I can wear regular shoes again and walk without limping. Also, driving is a real feat; I have to move my foot up until the gas pedal is in the middle of my foot instead of right under the ball of my foot where the broken bone is except on the top of the my foot, not the bottom, thank goodness. :re:

I won't bore all of you with my long, long list of "accidents" but to put in perspective, my knickname when I was a kid was "Calamity Jane" and unfortunately it still fits!!!! People just shake their heads, roll their eyes :re: and say "only you" when I describe my accidents! (Big sigh)
