I FINALLY got my sectional....ordered Sept 5, 2004....it was special ordered from Ethan Allen ( I always thought they were a good company). I ordered a 4 piece sectional (3 corners and 1 armless, so it makes an L)(I'd had one before, from another company and LOVED it.) I also ordered a club chair and ottoman...wait time was 8-12 wks....hurricane Ivan happened -2- wks after I ordered....so when I called in Nov. (8 wks later) to check on my order. Well it was gonna be a little late...hurricane you know........so in Dec I called again...the chair was here, but not the sectional. (the hurricane you know). So I had to pay the full amt owed to get the chair...got it Christmas week...it's beautiful and confortable....Jan comes, darn that hurricane, no sectional..Feb...welll gosh its here....they delivered it, it wasn't what I ordered. So I made them take it back...They said they'd -fix- it....Mar came along...well...you know that hurricane, no upholstery will do it for a few wks...Second wk of Apr....told I'd get it in 2 wks....hhhmmm....3 wks went by, no sectional....It's now wk #4....I call EA Corporate and am told I'll have a phone call in 10 mins...and I did...I got my sectional today....
The pieces they said they'd re-do, they didn't...one piece was ripped on the side....they took pics and took that back....I of course got out my vacuum to clean it up (it was filthy)....2 sections have BIG fist sized holes in the bottoms. (they were cut)...the legs are scratched and scarred...My husband took pics of that for me to e-mail to Corporate. When I called to tell the Manager what happened....she said thats what I get for ordering what I did...
HHhmmmmmmm.......now I ordered from their catalog, pieces they said I could order in the configuration I wanted. (it's not brain surgery...4 pieces of a sectional). I picked the color I wanted (cranberry red...looks nice with my asian stuff) It was paid for in cash, on time....I didn't yell at anyone, make a scene anywhere, didn't call anyone names...( my neighbor says I'm the nicest person she's ever seen....because she'd kill them all) (she's also seen all the damage and heard the conversations.)
(She's also never known ANYONE in her life, whos had as much trouble as I have living here, in this house...(she's 44, retired AF and she's been around)

So what I want to know is...is it me ??? Is it FL ??? I wasn't aware that I'd done something so horrible in my life, that I'd be paying over and over in weird ways for the rest of my life....

At least my new fence is up...it's beautiful (and I can keep my weeds private)

Will seeing a shrink help me....or do I just need a gun and lots of ammo ???? :bluesad:

Oh my gosh that is just unacceptable. Does your local news station have a "problem solver" type reporter that you could call? Ours does, and they fix problems like that all the time. I'm not nice at all when it comes to stuff like that....that's how our $2,000 roofing job cost us only $700, and we got a new fence and new drywall and new insulation and a paint job out of it too....get on them, and practice screaming, lol!!!!!!!!

I agree. There may be some sort of ombudsman for consumers who have this type complaint. The Better Business Bureau might help.

Several years ago I had a problem like yours with another company. The couch was not right at all & upholstery was not matched up. Real shoddy looking. I made phone calls galore & finally they picked up the couch & I got my money back. What a process that was. I then ordered my couch from Ethan Allen & no problem at all. We're in FL too. I guess it's the luck of the draw how things go. I always start off real nice but if it drags on & on then I have my say for sure. We do have a place to call for help from a tv station. So for I have never had to use them.

Chrys don't let Ethan Allen get by with this. They hold themselves out to be the "la te da" in furnishings. No matter what you ordered from them, it should be the best of the best when you get it. I've never seen anything in an Ethan Allen store or catalog that looked second hand. I would make them take the entire thing back and give me brand new, right out of the carton, furniture. I would be pleasant on the first exchange but after that, I probably would not be so pleasant, especially given the delays and the run around you've had.

Well, you must have the patience!! I don't handle things like that well and I would have cancelled the order and went somewhere else no matter what! LOL But then I've had so many bad experiences that I don't know if I would know a good one if it hit me upside the head! LOL Our first refrigerator was delivered with a big dent and scratch down the one side and the guy said "hang one of those big calendars over it!" GRRR Unfortunately we didn't see it until he had it in our kitchen and we told him to load it back up and he wouldn't! So we went down to the store the next day and got $150 taken off the price at least and then we put it up against the wall on that side....do you know what? My daughter is using that same refrigerator today!!! and that was in 1977!!! So I guess we ended up on the better end of that deal! LOL I'm only on my second refrigerator in close to 30 years! Knock wood!! LOL

I was informed today (by Ethan Allen Corp) that my sectional will be picked up (no time or date specified) and I will recieve a refund of my money....

Thats nice...now I'll have nothing to sit on, till I can get another sectional, somewhere else....

No apology, nothing....

Am I the only one who thinks theres something wrong here ???
I think I have the right to feel used and abused, but no one seems to care....
I don't kow whats happening to the world, but I hope I don't have to live in it much longer, like it is...I didn't realize it was MY fault, someone did something bad to furniture I ordered and now I have to pay for it, not only monetarily....

Apparently they feel no reason to give good customer service. Get plenty of pictures and call your local news station, and see it they will do a story on your situation. We have "Finney on your side" on one of our local news stations, when he gets involved companies change their tune real fast.

I wouldn't buy another thing from them if they treated me that way.

send a letter to your editor and make sure corporate gets a photo copy of it and make mention the online negative advertising and see what comes, those companies usually HATE bad advertising, so as long as they think your are staying quiet they don't care, but put it out in the public, they usually change there tune. good luck.

i am dealing with lack of customer service with Dell computers theses days :throw: 2 hard drives within 7 month, yet they keep telling me "they are tested and proven" ya right, not mine  i actually had a dialog with one of the managers yesterday, got him off the script, which is a task in its self. if this one goes in the next 6 months they will see if coming by airmail with a special delivery from my dog lol.

Guess who showed up at my house NO WARNING, NO CALLS....yep....they came to get the furniture, BUT I WASN'T HOME....
Ethan Allen came to my home to pick up my sectional, without my knowledge.
I was out....when I got back home the neighbors said they were mad...
AND ??? I had 2 messages on my machine. One at 1 pm, from the movers saying they would wait for 15 mins....and another at 2:40 pm, from EA Corp saying they were going to come get my sectional. Sometime.....
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....I don't know whats worse, the idiots at the store in Pensacola or Corporate...
YES I will be getting a full refund...(duh....)

Guess where I was ? Yep..out shopping for a new sectional and telling ANYONE who would listen about my furniture buying experience...

Letters are going to be flying out of this computer soon...
