Oh me too ... except mine is DirecTv not cable ... if so ... oh boy ... will have to tell DH to get a HUGE memory for the tivo! Right now, we are at about 100 hours (DH upgraded the memory already from 35 to 100). It should be very interesting and I would imagine a lot of Simply Quilts and Fons n Porter shows would go on that as well - you think? - Brenda -

I have DirecTV ... I get Simply Quilts in the mornings and Fon/Porter (can't remember waht time) --- mostly on channel 2 (PBS) - local station. I should research to see if Quilting Channel will come to DirecTv - I suppose if they come there = it would be a premium channel and have to pay extra for it like DIY - Brenda -

I have heard that there is to be a new channelm but when and where it is to be I don't know. I wish we had a channel devoted to nothing but sewing and quilting, heaven knows there are enough home repair ones to last a life time!!!! |

and home decorating shows along with home cleanup shows. How do those people on the home organizing shows do that? I'd be ashamed and not want anyone to know what a slob I am and live like that. For heavensake don't those people have any self-esteem or pride? Patsy Patsy

I know I am a safer. But some of the stuff these people have. The ones where they do bedrooms. Makes me wonder how they find the bed to sleep. And I also wonder how long it takes them to get the rooms back to the way they were before they cleaned them out.

Does that means they will be "showing" programs on the internet kinda like watching a funny clip on the computer (media program) etc? If so, darn it ... that's not good for me (I need tv so I can use CC). This will be very hard for those who have dialups as internet providers ..

Our PBS station here in New ORleans carries Martha's Sewing Room, America Sews, Fons and Porter, Elanor Burns, Sewing with Nancy, and a teen sewing program for the kids all on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM - 12 noon. I love it. Simply quilts comes on every morning at 8:30 I think on HGTV. I'd like more construction of garments programs that shows how to fit and construct garments. Even if they had a program that showed step by step of how to recover a chair or something home dec would be nice. Martha has mostly heirloom things and lots of times Nancy has quilting so garments are far and few between. I guess if they had a network that covered nothing but sewing shows 24/7 I'd still find something to gripe about. What can I say I'm never satisfied. |

There's another one called "Sew Much More" with Susan Kahlje...on DIY for sure and possibly local PBS stations also. That one is strictly sewing I believe. |

Nannee, our local sewing place sponsors these shows to be broadcast here on PBS. Maybe that is the reason. They also show all kinds of woodwork shows, stained glass with Vicki Paine and a scrapbook show. They have an artist who teaches you how to paint with watercolors and her paintings are beautiful. Makes you want to stay home all day Saturday to watch these shows. |

MIL, well i will have to talk to the local stores here and the quilting guild to see if anything can be done about getting our local PBS station to put some of these shows on. until about a month or so ago, we used to get America Sews, Sewing with Nancy and Quilt Central on saturday mornings....... kay Nannee, our local sewing place sponsors these shows to be broadcast here on PBS. Allie, thank you so much for posting that. I have been watching it for a little while and it looks like it's going to be very helpful to us newbies. The lady showed exactly how to sew using a blanket stitch while sewing an applique stitch. I saved it in my favorites. Thank you again. Nannee, I think that is the key to it all, who sponsors it on PBS. Our sewing places are full of sewers so I guess there is a market they feel to sponsor something like these shows. Our Catholic Archdioese also has commercials during that time to promote the catholic schools in our area so it could be they helping to keep it on the air also. I bet if you checked out the PBS station and the sewing centers in your area you will find a way to get them on again. |

(I also have Direct TV). She does strictly garmet sewing. The only thing that I don't like about her show is when she has a guest and they are showing their techniques, she has an annoying habit of going "um-hum" every two seconds. For some reason that drives me crazy. If I mute the TV, then of course I can't hear the guest describing what they are doing. You can also watch Fons & Porter on the RFD channel. We have a lot of sewing programs on our local PBS station. I can't remember all of the shows. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

The Quilting News Network is now on-line. It is not a cable tv program, but one you can get over the internet. I have been checking it out for 2 days now and there are some wonderful programs and tips including Jodie Davis, Kaye Wood and others. Do a google search for "QNN" and you should be able to get it. No TV is required, just a computer and software many of you have. I will try and post the home page after I get off here. Carolyn |

I enjoy the QNN site, but I have a slow dial up connection. The visual does not always show and the audio is choppy. I understand that if you have a faster connection such as cable, it is like watching tv.

Went to: http://www.quiltingchannel.com/ today as was posted and watched three "TV" shows on my computer screen. Neat! One was about an easy way to do a Lone Star Quilt - ooooh, I so want to do one someday. Following the clip I ordered a kit. (If I'm gonna' visit that website every day, I'm gonna' need to go out and get a better paying job!) Anyway, just wanted to say "thanks" for keeping us all posted on the latest. |
