Hello everyone. It is past time that I posted a reminder about manners on the Sew Whats New discussion forums. This site is going into it's sixth year online. We have gone thru many changes both good and bad since 1999. Keep in mind I think about the integrity of the site first and foremost. Our goal is to educate and encourage the needle arts at large. To that end, we have provided lessons, articles and projects of all descriptions. These discussion boards are a tool of the site. We are lucky enough to be able to utilize this tool to help others with their sewing/quilting/crafting problems. We also have a few discussions on family and home. These are to be a safe haven for anyone wanting to share thoughts, ideas and disappointments. We all have these ups and downs in life and it's comforting to be able to talk with others without fear of a nasty or curt remark. Lately, things have gotten out of hand. There have been posts that were thoughtless, rude and hurtful. Because of this and other issues I am posting this reminder. Politics: We will NOT discuss politics on this site. I know, everyone has their own ideas, so do I. However, we don't need to discuss them here. I will delete political posts. Sex: Another topic that brings out the worst in some. There are lots of other sites that you can visit to discuss this subject. Just not here at Sew Whats New. Again, I will delete these posts. Religion: Everyone has their own ideas and beliefs. Please don't post religious posts on our boards. There is always someone who will take exception to it. There are other sites that promote religion and they will welcome you with open arms. It's just too controversial and not beneficial to Sew Whats New. Flaming: Flaming is when something is said that is hurtful, sarcastic or degrading to another person on the boards. I will delete these posts as well. It doesn't cost a penny to be nice. Please think before posting. SOLUTION: After much thought and some discussion with other site owners I have come up with the following solution. If a person posts something I find nasty or unnecessarily sarcastic I will reprimand them privately. If it happens again, a stronger reprimand will be sent. The third time, they will be banned from the site. When I ban someone, it is not temporary. It is forever. It makes no difference who you are or how long you have been a member. Please know I am doing this for the good of the site. My job is to encourage new members and attract advertising revenue. This cannot be accomplished without the help of my members. All I ask is to be kind. If you can't find something constructive or nice to say, maybe it's better not to post. MaryW

Me too. If I haven't followed these rules in the past I'm sorry it wasn't intensionally to step on any ones toes. I can understand trying to keep everyone happy can be a job, but I will try to be a good trooper. BTW Mary you do a great job of monitoring the boards Thanks, I'm sure from all of us. |

I hope I haven't offended anyone. I try not to but sometimes one persons opinion can seem hurtful to others so If I am not sure I don't respond. Please let me know if I do anything wrong I would be lost without this sight.

me too MARY. If I have offended or hurt anyone I am sorry. Do not want to do that. Mary you do a wonderful job with this place and I can't imagine why someone would want to intentionally hurt another soul for ANY reason. But I guess there are some that do. This is the best place to come and just have good clean fun I think! One of the best gifts to give a child/grandchild is your listening ear.
