I have been eyeing those robotic vacuums since they came out. I was at Wal-Mart this morning and they had one on the clearance table for $30(regular $99.98). I couldn't pass it up. I think this might help the kids clean their room, they are facinated with it. If I tell the to pick up all the big stuff so they can run the robot they will (I am almost sure of it). You can even run it with a remote like a car the boys should go crazy over it. Does anybody else have one of these? I would love to hear what you think of it and any suggestions for helping it move around freely. Gina

i would love to hear how this works. Do they make much noise? It would be a perfect answer to my problem of not being able to vaccum when my grand kids are here. The two year old has this thing about anything that makes loud noise and I hate to vaccum at night when he isn't here. Let us know how it works.................. |

Ough you got a good deal on these if they are the ones I'm talking about. Is that the Roomba or something like that? The ones I saw cost 200.00. I wondered how they would work. I did see one of those floormates work the other day the ones that scrub your bare floors (wood, tile and vinyl) and suck up the water all in one swipe. They work really well and don't wet the floor, it's dry when you make the second pass over where you cleaned. Anything to make my life easier. |

Yes Susie it is similar to the Roomba but it is low-end version called Zoombot. I went online and read reviews about it while it charged. From what most people said it seems to work about as good as a Dustbuster. It is lacking a beaterbar that the higher priced ones have so it can't do a deepdown clean. I used it on a small area and it picked up dog hair and dust pretty good but did pass over some larger items, like pieces of paper. I am going to clean up my livingroom today and give it a whirl. I am hoping it will work well in my sewing room with threads and small fabric scraps. I will let you all know how it works. Gina

Gina let me know how it works, My husband always teases me about you can tell where I've been from the thread trail. Which means it's all over the house. |

I always check my hubby's shirt as he is going out the door for stray threads..........and there is almost always one..............LOL Has to be first on the list of "how do you know there is a quilter in the house?" questions. |

The other day my neighbor was cleaning out the overhang of his porch and he pulled down a little bird nest and low and behold there was a lot of my thread I reconized in there. See, at least my trash is being put to good use. Then I checked out the bird house I have in my yard and I can see thread and yarn coming out the sides of it. Makes me feel real proud that those baby birds are getting something out of my throw outs. I didn't think I was sweeping out that much thread. |

Well I tried it out yesterday. I think mine is having battery issues. It only worked for about 30 minutes. It is supposed to run at least an hour on a charge. My floor was really dirty when I ran it. It cleaned up popcorn pretty good, but it had a heck of a time with one piece of thread. It ran over it at least three times and never got it picked up. It did pick up other pieces of thread so I think it was one of those threads that just doesn't want to get vacuumed up. All in all it is a fun toy, runs quietly(about as loud as my microwave), vacuums around the sleeping dog, and I have had my thirty dollars worth of fun out if it already. I can't wait to see what they will be like in a few more years. I definately would NOT pay $100 for this particular model. So don't run out to Wal-mart to get one (unless of course you find it on the clearance table for $30). Gina

vacuums around the sleeping dog, Boy, I sure wouldn't have a sleeping dog with one of those things running! She'd be chasing it down for sure. Dorothy |

Dorothy, My dog will be 14 this July. He doesn't have the energy to chase the darn thing around anymore. He used to chase my brothers remote control cars up and down the street when he was young. I really thought he would at least bark at it. But when it ran into him the first time he just looked at it rolled his eyes and went back to sleep. It bumped into him a few times until it got turned around then it went on its merry way. Gina

My dog is afraid of the vacuum cleaner. As soon as I bring it into the kitchen from the garage, she's out the doggie door and keeps sticking her head in to see if its still there. She won't walk by it if it's off -- she runs. Patsy Patsy
