I've had a very hard time getting over losing my baby Bob....but due to the fact we had baby Sam, who's a wrestling fool, he needed someone to play with.
So today we went to a ferret rescue in Navarre (about 45 mins away) and adopted Mikey (he's deaf), 1-1/2 yrs old, dark eyed white and funny..(and a bit too smart already)..and his cage mate Piper (female) 1 1/2 yrs old, dark eyed white w/grey on her back and a black nose....(she's CUTE) (they had to come together, they were brought up together and cry if left without each other...which was fine with us...we have Sam and Zoey, Sam loves everyone and well Zoey....she'll learn...

So now we have 4....and they're all cute, funny, sweet babies....

(the woman who owns the rescue said 2 mnths ago she got a call from someone who was going to throw 2 ferrets in the street, she didn't want them...she'd kept them in a hamster cage for the 1st yr of their life, they were full of fleas and so thin their fur was falling out. They'd never been out of the hamster cage. (ferrets are typically 2-5 lbs, 1-2 ft long)....she went out and got those poor animals at midnight....took them to the emergency vet....

They're now mine...Mikey and Piper...they're fat, furry, happy and wonderful kids....

I hope the woman who dumped'em gets whats comming to her...what goes around comes around...

It truly sickens me how people can be so mean and cruel to helpless animals. Those same people probably also abuse children and elderly people.

I think sometimes people get pets without realizing what they are getting into.
Then the pets and the people end up sorry.
People might get a pet that lives in a cage thinking it will be easier than a dog or cat but my daughter had a ferret and he needed attention and affection just like a dog or cat. He was a great little guy. I hope your little guys do well. I'm sure they will because you sure love your babies.

Chrys,
I am so happy that there are people like us who rescue pets. I know that you will enjoy all four of them for many years. Bob is probably jumping for joy that you are giving two 'lil friends a new chance at a HAPPY life, just like you gave him.

Good for you!!! and congratulations on the new pets. Daughter has 5 of them - all adoptees. We have a good ferret rescue program, and that's where she gets them.
I'm sharing my sewing room with 3 of them - 2 are at the shelter being treated for medical problems.

Kudos to you for adopting instead of buying! It's so easy to look through the pet shop windows and forget about the thousands of pets that are languishing in pounds and foster homes because no one wants them.
