I use bias tape in a lot (and I do mean a lot) of my sewing projects. However, it seems that every time I have a project that calls for 1/4" bias tape, no matter how meticulous I am, there is always at least one space where all of the fabric doesn't catch under the bias tape. Or it catches and eventually pulls loose. Does anyone else have this problem with 1/4" bias tape? |

It's a tight fit. I usually use something larger. Dorothy |

Me too, 1/4" is really narrow. Talk about frustrating.

Whew, I thought it was just me! Would it cause a problem with the fit of the outfit if I used 1/2" bias tape instead? |

Where are you using it? Can you add 1/4 inch when you cut if necessary? Dorothy |

I practiced a lot with my bias tapes before I used them and found that if you cut your fabric slightly bigger this problem stops. If you use the 1/4 inch cut between the next measure on your ruler. I have done this for all of the sizes and it works. Hope this makes sense. |

Thanks! Never mind. You're talking about cutting my bias strips about 1/4" larger when making my own bias tape, right? |

Sorry, I re-read my post and realized I made a mistake. Try again. If you use your 1/4 inch bias tape maker it says to cut your fabric 1/2 inch. The 1/2 inch is the same as 2/4 ths. Your next measure is 5/4 ths. Place your ruler in between these two. It makes your 1/2 inch cut a bit bigger. Basically you are adding 1/16th of an inch to the 1/2 inch. In simple words, you add a fraction more fabric to the 1/2 inch when you cut. I hope this makes sense now. |
