I am trying to find/use a thread that will show "invisible" for a quilt backing. I bought some thread but am not sure if this is the right one or not.

It's a Coats and Clark - transparent nylon (micro...something) - I noticed there were two sizes .004 and .005. What is the difference between those two and which should I be using?

Any info or feedback would be greatly appreicated! Thanks!

TIA

Brenda, stay away from nylon invisible thread, it will yellow after time. Polyester is much better. Try Sulky. The size if not mistaken is one weight is for overlock stitching.

I use Sew Art International .004 Nylon.
For quilting this is the only thread Harriet Hargrave uses. It is the softest, and does not shine once stitched into the fabric. Harriet had been using this thread exclusively for the past 24 years.
It comes in clear for light fabrics and smoke for dark.
I love it.

I will have to take these thread back to Joann's - no problem. Susie - where would I find those thread? Would Joann's or Hancock's have it? Quilting store?

I use YLI nylon....I find it works better for me in my Janome machines.
(Sulky for some strange reason, shreads in my machines....all Sulky threads do this to me...weird..)

YLI can be bought from any Quilt shop, and from www.embroideryonline.com
