I'm still trying to find out if converting art to pes is possible and so I'm going to be long-winded and tell you why I have this problem. I started out with a Bernina Artista and ordered a card for it. Because of some problem between my dealer and Bernina, delivery of the card was not made until months later after I had decided that I'd rather have the stand-alone embroidery machine(Deco 600). So now I have the Deco machine and the Artista card and cannot seem to find out definitively if I can have the card converted to pes. Most people seem to think that if I just buy some software etc my problem will be solved, but it has been suggested to me that it is not possible to convert art to pes. I have tried going to "the horse's mouth" (Bernina) but have not had a response.
I am more than willing to buy software or to swap my artista card (butterflies) for the same card in Deco format (pes) or pay someone to convert it for me and/or let you keep the Artista card as well.
If I can find out for sure that the conversion cannot be made then I will try to sell my card and forget the whole darn thing.
I truly hope that after you ladies have read this long-winded message
someone will understand what I am trying to accomplish and help me solve the problem
Phew ! I'm exhasted ! I type with one finger !

Hi, I have had some private e-mail correspondence with Joanne who has found out that it is impossible (or almost) to convert art to pes. I am not happy with Bernina for arranging things this way, so I may try to sell my Artista card #A1001 (Butterflies) or swap for the same card in Deco format(pes). I also have a San Disk 64MB blank card with adapter that is unused for sale or swap. I may even sell my Deco( so darned mad at Bernina  )and get a Singer or Brother instead. Anybody interested ?
Lise :Canada:

P.S. Thank you Joanne for going to so much trouble.

if you have an amazing box or magic box that will read the card, Embird can convert ART to pes, except for ART4 which you can convert with wilcom truesizer...

I'm sorry that you are so upset. Artista is a bit snobbish about their software format. I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble. If it makes you feel any better, the Deco you have is made by Brother.

Aimee,
I have just found out that that I should have made it clear that I was trying to convert from a purchased Artista card to a card to fit in my Deco (pes) Apparently (If I have understood all the info supplied ) it is not possible to convert from a purchased card but only from a downloaded design .
Or am I still as befuddled as when I started this ?

you can convert but you will need a converter box. Like Amazing box or the Magic box by OESD.

Purchased on line you are looking at about 400. but you can get them new on Ebay for about 200. and the new Amazing Box will allow you to save to your hard drive.

There is also the PES2CARD3 seen here that cost about 400.

Hi Lise
I am very new at this so here goes. I have the program BUZZ TOOLS and it will work for converting many patterns to PES files. Try finding it on the internet. I'm not sure what their web site is but you could try typing: Buzz Tools.com
Bye for now.

The biggest problem is that you have a CARD. If it were a CD it would be just a little easier. The only way that it can be legally converted is by the person who owns it. Otherwise, the card can be read into either a converter box or an Artista machine which will read it like the 180 or the 200. If you use the converter box such as a Magic Box, it is then read over to a Pes card and you are fine as long as it is your box. At the same time, you can use the machine the same way, reading it back through the Artista software (I don't know if Embird would do this or not) into a computer. However, because it involves someone reading the card into a permanent space, it would be a copywrite violation for someone to use the machine method for you, since they are not the owners of the card and it would be transferring into a permanent space. Once the design went into the computer, it could be changed to PES through the software.

In short, the cheapest way that you can legally transfer this card would be to purchase a Magic Box or another type of box that reads and translates ART...and there are a few that do that...you just need to make sure that they will. If you are going to use a Deco machine though, purchasing a Magic Box would (honestly) be the way to go because you could change so many designs to card. ART is not a common format but PES is very common so if you can translate the ART, the PES should almost be certain.

once again.. if you have the amazing box... you can read the card, save to your harddrive, then use embird, buzztools, or truesizer to convert to pes...
