I saw a demo for the B-line home quilting frame at a retreat last week. The woman was using a Baby Lock Quilters Choice Pro. After a little research I found that it is basically a straight stitch machine with a long throat. Being a penny pincher, I wondered if any of you have bought a similar machine for less money for this purpose, with good results? I find it hard to part with nearly $1M for a straight stitch machine just for quilting on this frame.
Thanks!
Becky

Becky, there are several new Quilting machines available now. I tried the Pfaff Grand Quilter and it is amazing. The free motion is wonderul and it has many nice features that guarantee perfect stitches on any fabric. It has a knee lift for raising the pressure foot and also has speed control on the head. I haven't used the other straight stitch only machines. The Pfaff GQ's introductory price was $999 and the frame was I know equally as much. This machine is made by Janome for Pfaff. There is a new Viking Quilter that has just come out and you can see it on the Husqvarna site. It looks very much like the Pfaff and I don't know the price. I thought the price for a straight stitch only machine was high until I sewed on the Pfaff GQ but believe me..it is worth it if one is a quilter. It glides like a dream. Has a huge sewing area and sews at 1600 stitches per min. and has a separate motor for bobbin winding. Elna has several new Quilters ( 7200 Quilters Dream Pro and 6600 QD 2) with more features and many stitches also probably made by Janome because one is a clone of the Janome 6500.
