I bought this great cookie (http://kelly.hogaboom.org/2005/05/id-like-to-be-under-sea.html) today and I want to make them for my kid (and husband). However I have never had talents as far as frosting cookies... So I am looking for a good sugar / butter cookie recipe with frosting. You know, the kind where it tastes like the cookie AND the frosting have a whole stick of butter each? I also want to decorate them but am not too great at it either. Anyone here a cookie master? see the mundane life of a housewife.

I know the ones you are talking about Blackie. Go to either www.foodtv.com or www.allrecipes.com I love sugar cookies but they like my waistline and hips too much. I use to have lots of recipes for all kinds of cookies but they are buried in my notebooks in there and are hard to get to right at the moment. Let me know if you find a good one. I'm game to find new things. |

This is my grandmother's sugar cookie recipe that she baked for all the grandkids. Over the years, I have used it at various holiday times - cut them out with a holiday cookie cutter and frosted with coloured butter icing after they have cooled. Sugar Cookies 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 beaten egg 1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3 tbsp. milk Cream butter, add sugar gradually, beating between additions. Add eggs and mix well. Add dry ingredients alternately with liquid. Chill thoroughly. Roll to about 1/8" thickness. Cut as desired. Place on cookie sheet and sprinkle with sugar or omit sugar and frost after cooled. Bake at 375° F - 400° F. until golden brown. When baked, place on cookie rack and do not pile until cold. Butter Icing 1 1/2 c. icing sugar 3 tbsp. butter 1 1/2 tablespoon milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla Beat all together in a small bowl. Add more milk if icing seems too stiff to spread, or more icing sugar if it is too runny to hold its position when it is spread. TTFN from
