I need help to make my daughter a costume.. she needs to dress in an authentic Yugoslavian outfit for a report she is to give. Does anyone have any idea what I should make her? I have tried a few web searches & don't come up with much. Any help in finding pics is appreciated!! |

This is a picture of Serbian garb. I think Serbia was part of Yugoslavia. http://www.serbianunity.net/culture/history/Hist_Serb_Culture/html/urban_dress.html Hope this helps. Take care,

These pictures aren't very clear but I think that there is enough that you can find something usable. I can't believe how hard this was to find but since there has been so much change in that part of the world, I guess there isn't that much out there anymore. I did find a site to make Yugolavian belly dancing costumes though... http://home.columbus.rr.com/zivili/whatis.html pam

Please note that at the VERY BOTTOM of the page Paroper sent their e-mail address and "800". Try sending them your questions or calling and maybe they would be able to help you with more items for your DD's project. Good Luck |

Folkwear (http://folkwear.com/) has some great stuff - some of it is at the previous link posted by Ticia. I would look at theOld Europe (http://folkwear.com/oldeurope.html) section. I love Folkwear's patterns and find them easy to sew.

The country has been split up so much that you kind of have to decide what area you want the costume to be from: Macidonia: http://macedoniadirect.com/costumes1.htm http://www.auburn.edu/academic/liberal_arts/foreign/macedonia/folk-embroidery/index.html good luck! Carolyn

Folkwear do have some very nice patterns, especially for kids. I made #224 Beautiful Dreamer up a few years back. It was very enjoyable to sew and now I see they have one for little girls too.
