Okay, we have gotten rid of the Snow. Now the Thunderstorms are starting up. Here yesterday we had Severe Storms pop up in the late afternoon, the norm here. One BRAND NEW home was hit by lighting and totally destroyed, they were to move in in three weeks. Another home was hit, minor damage. And a teenage girl was Life Flighted to a Cleveland hospital after being hit by Lightning. They are calling for ANOTHER round of storms this afternoon, they look to be pretty strong ones too.
Call me crazy, but this is my favorite part of Spring!!!! I love Thunderstorms and really love it when all the Bells and Whistles that go along with it start happening. My dream Birthday would be to go out with a Chase Team in Tornado Alley!!!!! Hope I can do it one day before I die.

Update: The young girl, 15 yrs old, was hit on her way to a car in the parking lot at her High School. They had to do CPR on her. The Gym teacher was the first one to her and started it. She is in Serious Condition at Metro General Hospital in Cleveland. Please put her in your Prayers.

Sew Happie,
I love thunderstorms to but not with all the bells and whistles. Once when on a motorcycle trip across Ok. we saw some of the storm chasers on the road. One stop and told us to find shelter as it was very ripe for bad weather. We were on the back roads and it was like nothing around to go into too. They told us to find a house and ask if we may ride out the storm. They helped us get to a farmhouse with a barn and all and these lovely people let us stay there. We tied the Harleys down as best as we could and then went with them to hide. After a while we went out to see the damage. These lovely people were concerned for our bikes. They seemed to weather the storm, the barn seemed to be in good shape. The tornado was a couple of miles away and not a big one they said. Since I live in Mich we get very few tornados here so this was an experience for me. We were so grateful to these lovely people and all they asked was a chance to ride on the Harleys. We spent the rest of that day with them taking them into town and to visit friends and help clean up the debris. It was an experience that I will not forget for a long time. I hope you can get to ride with one of those storm chasers, it would be a thrilling trip I am sure.

I LOVE t-storms....but ever since the woman across the street from me had her house hit by lightening, I'm not so crazy about watching'em anymore.
I used to love watching them form over the mountains in CO...here in FL we get L O T S of lightening...and it's scary. Almost every time theres a storm a house is hit and usually goes up in flames....my neighbor was lucky...she'd just stepped away from her sliding glass door, when the bolt hit the spot where she was standing...(we're on slabs) took out the kitchen floor, all her electrical sockets, the computer, the t.v., the stereo and the garage door opener....but she has her house in one piece....but now she hides (and I can't say that I blame her) when theres a storm.... :bolt:

I love thunderstorms too...didn't as a child but did a complete turnaround as an adult. I taught my daughters to love them too. We used to live in Dundas which is in the valley of the Niagara Penn. so we used to drive up to the top of the Dundas Mountain (ok it's a big hill but a really big hill) and sit and watch the lightning strike the other side of the escarpment. One night we grabbed some pop from home, stopped and bought donuts, coffee for me and drove up to the other side of the valley (called Hamilton Mountain which is an even bigger hill) and sat in the car watching this electrifying light show when a police officer scared the daylights out of us. He saw the car sitting there and came over and tapped on the window to see if we were ok... or up to something. When I told him we were watching the lightning storm he looked at me like I was crazy, shook his head and left. The kids still laugh about that night.

I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

I run and hide when we have storms. I don't like them. I lived in Florida for 12 years and when I moved back to Michigan, I told my friends I would not miss the storms we had down there. I will take a snow storm any day over a thunder and lightening storm.

My brother had a dog that was terrified of thunder and lightning. It used to hide and literally cry when there was a storm. One time they left the dog outside, and went out. While they were out it stormed. The neighbors told him the dog threw itself up against their patio doors trying to get in. It had at real meltdown. :whacky:

One day a storm moved in fast and by the time I realized it and went to get the dog in she had ripped her leash lose and run away. It was the only time she had ever done that. When she finally came home after the storm her tail was singed.

Well Round #1 just went through and Round #2 is just coming across the Indiana- Ohio line.
Round #1 was a hum-dinger!!!! We lost our power, the local ABC Weatherman broke into Programing to do Weather Casts. My DH just hates this guy, says he's a "DRAMA QUEEN of WEATHERMEN!!!!" I'm lucky, when the power does goes out my Cable System has us set up with a 12 hour battery, so the 'puter is shut down, the TV is on only for short periods- this way we don't use up the battery which also powers the phones. Still keep my cell phone charged and ready , just in case we are without power longer than 12 hours.
DS came home from his job, ate dinner, was bored sitting in the house before the storm hit, so he went outside and mowed the yard!!!! Lucky he had it done just before the storm really hit.
Can't wait for Round #2 to get here!!!!!!! :bg: They are calling for more storms on and off all day on Saturday!!!!! YIPEEEEEE  I HEAR THUNDER!!!!!!

Sewhappie the first time I hear of a "storm chaser" here in Oklahoma looking for a "rider", I'll let you know. Chasing tornadoes is not one of the things I've ever dreamed of doing. My first inclination when I hear one of anywhere near my house, is to "run" and I mean "as fast as I can"! I wasn't too awfully afraid of them until that F5 hit Oklahoma City/Midwest City as few years ago. I really don't care to be that close to another one. :bolt:

MAry I'm with your dog. I hate the Lightning and Thunder. I'm scared of it and hide in the middle of my house when I hear it start.

We have been dry here lately but Friday I started out going shopping and picked up a few things at Big Lots and started to put the things in the truck and started to head next door to WalMart and turned around and got my fanny back in the truck and left. The sky over the city was black and it was only 3 in the afternoon. I ran over to my ex daughter in laws house to make sure the Grandkids had a ride home because two of them walk home, I got them from school and then the weather cleared that fast. Funny it never did rain on us but they say it poured across town. That's South Louisiana weather for you.
