Near as we can tell they're identical, and they have not yet exhibited personality quirks to help us in telling them apart (or at least nothing that has stayed consistent). What are your suggestions for telling them apart? Right now we keep Drake in blue and Peter wears all the other colors (we got lots of blue outfits), and as an emergency backup we've got little anklets on them. But, we're always looking for other ways to help us tell them apart.
So any suggestions?

I have heard of people tattooing an identifying mark on their heel. I know some people think this is harsh but it is really no different then ear piercing your baby girl or all those heal sticks they get when they are jaundiced. If they really have no permanent identifying marks I would seriously consider this. Lets say something horrible happend to them and the clothing and anklets were lost. I can think of many things that could happen as I am a worry wort. I won't scare you with all the ideas that haunt my mind. But if something were to happen how would you tell them appart? Look them over head to toe, I bet you might find something as simple as a strawberry birthmark, but if you don't I would talk to your pediatrician about the tatoos.

My sister used nail polish on her boys toenail. I think she did green & blue. They quit when they found that 1 of the boys had a white mark on his bottom lip. 27 yrs. later I still need to look for the mark.

My husband keeps threatening to tatoo them (are there two t's in tatoo?, it doesn't look right). We tried the nail polish when they were first born, but their nails were too small, it might work now.
They do both have birth marks, but the problem is they both have them in the same place so far, just slightly different (so they both have red marks on their eyes, and both have red marks on the back of their necks, and I'm sure they're a little different, but I can't tell it well enough right now).

Good to know, no matter how I typed it, the word didn't look right.

[tongue planted firmly in cheek]

Feed one of them twice as much?
Name 'em both Daryl & give it up?
Send one away to live with Aunt Sue?
Let one's hair grow into a l-o-n-g ponytail?
Pierce one's ear?

:monkey:

Just kidding, of course :nah:

I was always afraid of having twins. Not only am I a bit visually challenged & afraid I would never learn to tell them apart, but I was always afraid they would both get hurt & I wouldn't know which way to run.

My niece and I were looking at pictures of her twin brothers the other day. she immediately said "There's Robert". It isn't hard to tell them apart now, but when they were little I couldn't tell...so I asked her how she knew. She said her mom always put Robert in blue and Charles in red. I didn't realize that. Mine weren't so hard to tell, I had a girl and a boy. I have twin cousins that eventhough they are in their 60's I still can't tell them apart. I don't know how their family ever did.

My ds twins have really done strange things, though. They bought the same color and type of pickup on the same day (living half the country apart). They called my mom within minutes of each other asking for the same recipe...one calling from New Jersey, the other from Kansas. They were staying at the mom's house one time, one downstairs, one upstairs, when they walked into the room at the same time, they were both wearing the same bright orange pants with exactly the same shirt. They sat down on the sofa beside each other and reached out at exactly the same time, picked up Mt. Dews and took a drink at exactly the same time. It is really strange to see them do things like this and they do it all the time.

Right now if our fair city of San Antonio we have an identical twin running for mayor. His brother I believe is a state representative. We had this big parade a while back and the one running for mayor was supposed to be there. Well instead he had his brother stand in for him. This is kind of scary. Nobody knew until it was leaked out somehow. That is a cute trick when they are kids or maybe at a party with friends now that they are grown, but how do we know that they haven't done it for more important things like meetings of the house of representatives.

Ticia I work with a girl who had identical twin girls and she and her husband kept the little name bracelets on them until the girls got big enough to pull them off. As they've gotten older, you can tell them apart as one is a little chubbier than the other one; one is very girly-girl and the other one is a tomboy.
