I am attaching a beaded trim to the top of the bodice of a form-fitting satin dress with spaghetti straps. The beaded trim is three rows of pearls attached to a netting-like strip. What is the best handstitching method to use to attach the beading? Should the stitches be hidden on the inside of the garment? or should they go through the lining and show on the inside? The strip is about 3/8 inch wide and I'm thinking that as heavy as it is that it needs to be stitched both on the upper edge and the lower edge.
I'm guessing that the best way to begin and finish the beading is the remove a few of the pearls and tuck under the end and whip stitch down. Is that right?
Sorry if this seems elementary. I'm trying to finish this through a BIG headache. I've already made a couple of mistakes that required ripping out and I don't relish doing it again. So I decided to ask first. Thanks.

I think you are on the right track. Sorry about the headache though. That never helps.

If the trim is heavy then by all means stitch both top and bottom thru to the inside. If it were me, I wouldn't want to have the stitches show if I could help it. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks Mary. I am headache free this AM so things are going better. I felt the same way about the weight. Just needed confirmation that I was on the right track. It's been too many years since I've worked with this type of material. I raised two boys and didn't have to make anything like this!
