Has anyone embroidered on tulle? I would think this would be great for wedding accessories.

Mary,

I haven't done anything on tulle yet, but I have a cd that has some beautiful free standing roses to do on tulle. Maybe when I get through with my sewing for my grand daughter and making 20 vests for our camping club, I can get to some things for me. I saw a really cute girls room in a magazine...the window treatment was sheers with embroidery down the sides and along the bottom. My granddaughter loves carrosel horses, thought I might do that for her new room when they get moved. My sewing machine shop has roses done on a sheer topper. It is really pretty.

I saw something like that on the weekend. They were beautiful!
I should think that a veil could be beautiful if you could find the proper designs.

A lady who comes in to where I work embroiders on everything. For a niece's communion she made her dress and veil which she had embroidered on both of them. All she says is you have to pratice with different stablizers to see which works best for the material and design.

I've embroidered on tulle. I actually put the water soluble solvy down for the base and then usually put a couple of layers of tulle over that. In my case, I have made appliques out of them. Before my dad passed away, I did some monograms that way, and then hand appliqued them to the pockets on his shirts. The CNA's told me that they looked like designer shirts! :bluewink: I have also used this process to make appliques to put on decorative soap--those were glued on.

Now that you mention embroidering on tulle, though, I think method would probably also work on a bridal veil and be very pretty indeed.

I understand Badge Master (heavy solvy) and heavy ' lace' designs work well on tulle....I haven't done it myself, but I've seen it done...looks easy enough...and there are LOADS of lace things out there to use.

Check out this site!

http://www.glamgal.com/veils3.html

Some of these look applied, others (I think) are probably embroidered on the veil. This site is beautiful!

As long as you were using freestanding lace with somthing like badgemaster I don't think you would have a problem.
