I have a huge stain left from pink silly putty on one of my slipcovers! And this morning one of my friends called, her daughter managed to take some orange silly putty to bed with her and get it all over herself and bed. Our sunday school teacher has been giving it out as prizes for the children learning their verses. New rule here - NO SILLY PUTTY IN THE HOUSE.

The crayola website helpfully suggests using WD40 to get it out. I think not, on fabric that would be an even bigger mess.

Does anyone have any ideas to get the stain out, the gooy stuff is gone, but the stains remain

Please and Thanks
Melanie

I swear by Dawn dishsoap. It even takes out blood. Just rub some in, let it sit a bit and wash.

I'm wondering if using a paper bag (the kind you used to get groceries in) or paper towel layers and ironing the fabric with this on top would work. I know it works to take out wax and can also get some of the color out, but would help absorb up the grease. I also like using 'Shout" and "Spring Green' cleaner on my hard stains, this is when I am at my wits end and rather than cut it out I will spray on 'shout' let it dry, spray on 'spring green' let it dry, repeat with both, then wash the item. This may be two or three washings but I've seen it take grease out of my son's pants when he worked at Burger King, red wax drippings on a pair of beige pants, mustard stain on a white knit shirt. Good luck! Hopefully you said something to the teacher - she may have not had a clue that it would be so much trouble.

For any stain that is greasy, try this first.. You won't need anything else.. Dawn. Yes , the liquid diswashing soap.. All their claims about how it tackles the grease are true, true....It even takes black grease out of shop rags.. I no longer buy any other stain removal products..

I use a mix of Vivid ( like clorox 2) and Dawn together. Had spilled grape juice on a white shirt once, the combo of both got out every bit of the purple.
