For Sale: Bernina Circular Embroidery Attachment. I bought it on Ebay and it looks to be in new condition. It fits a larger throat plate than the one on my Bernina 830. Price is $25.00 which includes mailing in US and Canada. Email if you'd like a picture.

Is a circular embroidery attachment designed for an embroidery machine or is it a gadget to let you sew in a circle on a regular sewing machine? If it is the latter I can tell you how to make one yourself at no cost. Many years ago I was frustrated with the one sold by Bernina, returned it and invented my own. It is no longer "original" because I know of another person who also thought of this solution and made her own.
However, if it is :Canada: :Canada: something that allows you to actually embroider in a circle(on an embroidery machine) that's another kettle of fish !

I don't use an automatic embroidery machine, but the only circular sewing attachments I know of are the old Bernina one which I thought was pretty effective, and one Viking makes or made several years back that is for a Viking or a Pfaff which I didn't really like and don't have. I hoop the fabric and stitch as close to the hoop as possible. The other method I have used is to measure 1/2 the diameter of the circle I wish to make, tape a thumbtack to the spot and put the center spot of the hooped fabric on the thumbtack and stitch. As the hoop turns the needle stitches a circle. :coffee2: MariLynntx

Thanks for the replies. It will not fit my Bernina 830. Therefore, I don't think it will fit a 930. This one has #83 on the instructions and probably made for the newer models that came after the 830 & 930, etc. Email me directly at <email address removed for privacy> with the title in the subject line and I will send a picture. This was made before the embroidery machines to be used with the machines decorative stitches.

"A gadget to let you sew in a circle on a regular sewing machine."

Lise, please send me the instructions to make the attachment at
<email address removed for privacy>.

This is for a regular machine not the newer embroidery ones.

Thanks.

I had this item, which looked like the picture posted on EBay, for my Bernina 930, which I no longer have. It worked very well, and it was made for a 930, cost me $9. I have used a thumbtack, taped the proper distance from my needle, ever since without a problem, for any size circle. Price: one thumbtack and some scotch tape and a piece of stabilizer under my design! :coffee2: MariLynntx

There was a post on the BerninaUSA board that was saying the foot was redesigned a few years ago and it fits the newer machines. There is a difference in the way that it attaches to the machines and the newer attachments has a little "v" shape on the bar. My older one is straight (I think).

Since my thumbtack-&-tape works so well, I'm not going to spend any money on a circle maker...instead I'll buy the new (#6) Harry Potter book! I pre-ordered it from Barnes & Noble and it's about time for it to come out. MariLynntx
