I normally use a combination of embroidery threads,,, I have all of the ARC colors, probably half of the marathon colors, and assorted madeira, Isacord, Robison Anton, superior, gutterman, sulky, and coats and clark...I have never noticed a difference in tension going from one brand to another...I did have one spool of brown madeira that I had to work with somewhat, but other than that, tension problems are generally a matter of your machine or of a specific design...
