I really would like to make a boppy for my daughter in the fabric we are using for her nursery, but can't find any measurements for one of these pillows. Does anyone have one, or a pattern, or measurements??? In case you have no idea what a boppy is (I sure didn't!) its a horseshoe shaped pillow that you can use to nurse baby or when baby is older is a support for their back so they can sit up. Many thanks!! Laura

Laura, is this the cushion that encircles the mother to cradle baby?

BTW, my neice has her 2nd baby now and she says those are not a bit comfortable. "More trouble than they are worth". is an exact quote from her..

Looking at the link I think that that one is just not going ot be very comfortable. I used them with the last two of my children and loved them. The first one I made was fit to my waist like that and it streched out so it was not very comfortable. with the next one the opening was a lot smaller and it was tight for the first few uses then it streched out and was quite comfortable.
I bought my pattern from Elizabeth Lee but she doesn't seem to carry it anymore.
I found this link it is for a child to use with a doll but the design looks better than the other. You could just enlarge it to fit an adult.

Thanks for the sites, I actually did try the one on Jan's site and it came out looking like a big worm!! My DH thought it was quite funny. So today I went to Sears and measured one, then came home and made one out of denim. It looks like it'll work ok. I plan on making a few covers for it, one which will be for baby when she is starting to sit and it will have some touchy feely things on it. I saw a really cute idea on a website where it was done up like a little dinosaur. But since the nursery is in a jungle theme a dinosaur won't work, so any more great ideas out there??

DEFINETELY make extra covers!!!! I have two boppies so I can feed my twins at the same time when I do bottles, and they will make such a mess on them you will want to be able to wash the cover.

I used mine more to support the children when they were learning to sit up than for nursing. I am so short, that the pillow only worked for the first week. I finally got sick of having it around after my third and gave it away.

I have however, made them as baby presents and taller people really seem to use and enjoy them. My pattern was from Elizabeth Lee. I usually make her matching baby sling and baby neck pillow as well.

I need to make some covers for one of these nursing pillows for co-worker. The link here no longer works. Anyone know where I can find pattern?

A Nursing Pillow that fits just right

I made one for my daughter this summer, then found one in a store for $9. I believe I paid more than this for the fabric and filling. She wanted it very badly but as of last night told me it is just too awkward to bother with.
