Hello All, my first post on this forum.
My mum has kindly loaned me her MyLock 134D differential feed overlocker. I think it's a Janome, though not 100% certain. PROBLEM is I cannot get the tension right. I am using 3 thread feeds, the right hand needle on duchess satin fabric. I really need to sort this. My mum is of no use as she barely used it & suggest I play about for a while.....like I have been all afternoon!
Any help hugely appreciated.

The easiest way to tune in tensions is to put a different color thread in each looper and the needle and look at which one you are having problems with.If you have access to a library go and see if they have any books on basic serger use.It would help you to have photos of what the stitches are supposed to look like.

I have found that with the Janome models if you start with all your tensions at the number 3 you can usually go from there. If all at 3 work well..then fine..but if not..try adjusting one tension at a time and see if you get better results. I hope you do. :) You also might need to change the needle or needles for your different fabrics. I believe Schmetz needles will work in your serger..you might want to check and see.

On many older sergers, the tension dials need cleaned. You can fold over a small peice of cloth soaked lightly in lighter fluid and slide it between the metal tension discs. On some of my older Babylocks, the spring inside the tension dial had lost it's "oomph" and had to be adjusted. Hope this helps.
