I just made a mistake with some black textured fabric. I have to rip out a seam and cannot see the stitches. No matter what I do, got any tips girls?

This may sound silly but how about taking some tailor's chalk and running it along the seam line on the 'good' side and using that to see the stitches? KayTee |

That is a good idea. Better than mine. I was going to say shake baby powder on and run your finger over the stitches to see if any of the powder would highlight the stitches..

I usually kinda pull the seam open and slide the seam ripper in between the two pieces of fabric that were stitched. I can usually clip a stitch or two and pull, and about 5 or 6 more come out.

I do the same as Greendragonlady. It's usually worked fairly well for me, the only problem is after a while my hands get tired from ripping it apart. Ticia |

Um, will a magnifying glass help at all? Jen |

This is what I do too. Also be sure you have a really good light or go outside and enjoy the weather while you rip so you have some good light to help. Lyn

I'd do all that -- using the white chalk along the seam line where it is stretched apart. And I would do it under the magnifying light I use for had stitching. Dorothy |

All fixed. What a time I had. I was afraid I was going to ruin the fabric. I kept picking the wrong threads. Anyway, my Soho Pant is done and looks very nice if I do say so myself. This is what I made. http://www.textilestudiopatterns.com/patterns/index-pants.html#null Nice flat front pant but with elastic waist. You would never guess. MaryW
