The saga of the furniture is over...after trying to buy the sectional from Ethan Allen LAST Sept and not getting it till (this) Apr., full of holes, dirty, chewed up legs, ripped and smelly...I sent pics to Corporate, got my money back. They took the sectional and I didn't have anything to sit on for a few weeks...but now....as of TODAY....my NEW (new) sectional has arrived. (from Norwalk). It's straight, it smells like new furniture, the cushions fit, the legs pristine, no holes, no rips, no tears, no stuffing comming out of the seams. It came 2 wks earlier than they said it would (comming from Ohio, NOT China, like Ethan Allen does, but they don't tell you that).
My neighbor was here (as usual to see what I got) and she's more excited than I am. She doesn't understand that for almost a year, I've been looking for, buying, fighting, taking pictures of and returning furniture. NEW furniture.
I'm just tired and grateful to have something to sit on.
I also realize in the scheme of things, it's very minor and stupid, it's just furniture...but considering the past two yrs now, I'm allowed to be tired.(add 4 sick and dying ferrets...a hurricane, my mystery stereo, that I STILL can't find. Meds to help me be 'calm' so I don't kill anyone over the stereo, most of which have made me sick and now my husband may lose his job to BRAC, gotta love Congress). So I'm being tired and having a pity party here...you're all invited !!! Bring your own drinks and tissues...we have a new couch to sit on and it's FABRIC protected, so you can spill ! :whacky:

My son just told me this week he is going to order a leather club chair from Norwalk. I heard they are very good to deal with. True? Good to know that Ethan Allen is made in China! My cousin's daughter gets all her stuff from them and is always blabbing about them being THE BEST furniture. Not made in the USA. Hmmm, very interesting.

Chrys, I'm glad the furniture ordeal is finally over for you. You've had quite a time with it.
What color is the new furniture?

Ruby red velvet 4 piece sectional (square pieces make an L). Living room is now red and black, Asian. (before it was dr green and red(mahogany) Asian).

I didn't know Ethan Allen was made in China either....I found out the hard way.
Thats why they tell you it takes 2-3 months...it's not the manufacturing, it's the shipping from China.

My sectional was here in 3 wks...they said 35 days...but since it came trucked from Ohio...(no shipping for a month or two) it was early.

Ethan Allen recieved a lovely 3 page letter and 5 pages of pictures from me, all about the wonderful way I was treated and the great furniture I got and was taken back....I'm sure they don't care...after all they didn't care when they sent the darn stuff in the first place.

Hey Chrys, I figured you'd be soaked by now. How are you weathering Arlene? I felt so bad for you guys.

Glad to hear you are finally getting your furniture.

Actually we did pretty well...lotsa rain (3" or so...) wind...not too bad 35-45 mph....our new roof is GREAT....the new fence is still up and and new tree we planted last week ( I made sure to put LOTS of poles around it to hold it up...it's only about 6' tall) is great too...luckily the storm was light and I think only the coast got most of it...power flickered twice, but didn't go out...
(but heavens this is early for a storm like this...usually we don't start preperations till Aug-Sept) it's gonna be a heck of a year....thanks for askin !

Maybe not Chrys, I've seen storms come this early and the season be not bad at all. I think it depends on Ole ElNino or LaNino. But as you say, they are predicting some bad storms this year and plenty of them. We'll hope not but have to wait and see. You keep safe and we will too.

Chrys - send your husband here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/ for trailers of the new eps - sadly we have the last one one Saturday and I am supposed to be going to a Pink Party thrown by a work collegue - Tony says we have to wait until Who is finished before we can go - seems fair to me - after all - we snuck out of our own wedding reception to nip down the road and watch Dr Who hoping to slip back in again before MIL noticed....didn't work..
They are screening in Canada at he moment I believe..
