There's something really strange about this listing for a Bernina 200E on Ebay. It's been set for a 1 day listing but has been showing 19 hours left since last night. There have been 2 bids from the same person for $900.00 (the starting price). Originally the seller had the postage price for $2.50 anywhere in Australia and has now changed that to $5.00. Also instead of the photo of the machine showing as it did last night, they have changed it so that the main picture is a piece of embroidery which wouldn't catch anyone's eye. Since this machine is around $7000 here this is all really fishy. Also same machine is on UK ebay for a $15.00 start price. Interestingly enough both listings have to be pre-approved to bid. I was speaking to our Bernina salesperson who said he was aware of 6 that had been stolen in Australia, so who knows, this may be one of them. Does anyone else think this is strange or is it just me??

I wonder how you are pre-approved? The pre-approval may be the key to the whole thing. My guess is that it is a scam.

usally on those types of auctions there is no machine.

What they do is get people to email them. Then they offer to sell off ebay for a wire transfer or a money gram. Both that are not approved tender for ebay and paypal protection.

You are out the money and they never send a machine.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Interestingly enough this listing was dropped half way through - it just disappeared. Then the next day another one turned up on Ebay with a starting price of $50 (one day listing again) in another city in Australia. The comments section was full of people trying to Pre-register, same as other machine, with a comment from the owner of the page saying his page had been highjacked and he did not have the machine listed. Poor man there were over 3 pages of comments from people interested in buying. Obviously this appears to be an Aussie wide scam. It looks like it pays to be alert.

Anytime there is a one day E Bay listing, esp. for a deal that looks too good to be true, you've got to wonder.
