I remember reading about this used for waistbands and thought it sounded perfect for a handknitted knit skirt I've almost completed. I'm adding a fabric skirt underlayer to it (with a crocheted border on the hem), so don't want to add bulk to the top knitted layer of the skirt. I tried to find petersham (maybe it should be capital "P" since it sounds like someone's name!) at JoAnn's, but they never even heard of it. I ended up buying something called "Seams Great" because it sounded like it might work. I opened the package today. It's way too soft and I don't think it will hold up well for my purposes. Can someone describe what petersham tape looks and feels like and tell me if I can buy it at a local place like Hancock's, Beverley's or Michael's? I don't want to have to pay for shipping and handling since I only expect to buy one small roll. I don't even know if it comes in rolls. In the meantime, I'll probably just go with a narrow grosgrain ribbon since I need to complete my project ASAP. Thanks for advice.
