We are going to get a direct hit of this hurricane Cindy. It's not a big storm so we are staying put but I had to get my kids out of harms way some of them live in Mobile homes under big trees. It should be here by midnight. I'm worried about Dennis. He's on Cindy's heals and he's going to be a big one and they say it might come here too. Last year it was Florida I hope this year it's not Louisiana. I'm ready to move but not ready to be forced to move. I'll let you know how we fair tomorrow if I can get online. I'm just east of New Orleans and they are saying it's coming straight for my area, St Bernard Parish.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Thanks Lyn and Joni, I just got my granddaughters fed and settled. Two of them were at their Dad's which is in a mobile home so they are safe with me now for the night. The others went on to the other grandparents homes for the night. Only one more to worry about but he's away a little bit from the storm so I think he'll be okay tonight. Not much wind yet but it could get very windy soon they are saying south of us it's getting gusty. One good thing is it has to come ashore a little left of south of us so it has some marsh to cover before it gets here and that can weaken it a bit before it gets to us. If it would have come in from our right side it would have come in from the waters of the sound near us and it would have no marsh before it reached us that way. I'll keep in touch as long as the thunder and lightning doesn't start and I have to shut the puter down.

I hear ya beachgirl. These things always come either left or right of us we haven't had a direct hit in about 35 years of a big one, that's what I'm afraid of that our luck is going to run out soon. I guess we have to expect this kind of stuff when you live near the water. I think I'd rather the hurricanes then the earthquakes though. At least the hurricanes you know they are coming. I'll keep in touch. I'm leaving my puter on as long as I can for the weather alerts.

We have a new roof, fence and tree, courtesy of Ivan (the terrible of last sept)...I'm waiting for these two to come in...I have surgery scheduled tues for one of my ferrets, so THAT might have to be put off till the weather clears. (I'm not driving 50 miles in wind and rain with a small ferret, in my small car, ANYWHERE near the water, which is where we'd be going (Pensacola)) Luckily her surgery isn't urgent...

This has been the weirdest 2 yrs for storms, personal strangeness and altogether just plain badness. :bolt:

Hang on Susie !!!!!!! I'm gonna :bg:

Thanks Chrys, You do the same on your end, Looks like you are going to get some of this bad rain from this one too. Hang in there gal.

You are so right about the badness. Last week I went to a funeral of a friends son. He killed hisself, then yesterday I hear a friend of ours daughter got killed in a boating accident. A few months ago a life long childhood friend's son died of an overdose. Now it's hurricane season :bang: .

There is good things going on I have to say. My son that was in rehab is looking forward to moving in the country and getting a home of his own. He's so excited he's been calling me every 5 minutes. He had a slip a few weeks ago but went straight to the doctor and told him about the way he was feeling and now he's on some antianxioty medicine to help with the feelings he is feeling while his body is coming off the junk he was on for so long. I have to say he's a different person since he's off the stuff. He's spending a lot of time with his son and brothers. My prayers have been answered.

Hey Susie,
I hope everything was okay for you. We're getting a little rain. The sky is awfully dark right now. I hope that's all we'll get from it.
I hope Dennis will fizzle out before it gets closer to La. :nervous:

I finally got lights back on tonight and it's 9:30PM and I just got them on about 30 minutes ago. I've been out since Tuesday at 9:30PM with my last post a tree went down taking out my back porch and covered my truck in the patio area. That's when the lights went out all down my street, another tree went down and hit a circuit breaker and knocked us out for 48 hours. It's been hot as all H*&L. 92F yesterday and today. I have been soaking myself with cool water for two days. I couldn't sleep in all this heat so I'm about wore out. We did have a generator set up to run the freezer and tv and some lights so we could see where we were in the house. I think I carried a flash light around for the two days at my side at all times after dark because the generator went out a time or two and I was in the dark. It was scary here for a while we got the direct hit and it was stronger winds then expected. There were 275,000 people out of power after the storm in my area so it took some time for them to get us up and back. I discovered you can make a really good sloppy joe on the barbecue pit. What made it good was the fast food places were open and so were the banks so we had food elsewhere to get and we could get our money out he banks. It was hot Hot hot that was the only thing that was really unbearable was the heat. Other than that everything else worked out okay. When my hubby pulled my truck out from under the tree it was scratched all over the hood and sides but not a dent on it. It's my baby so the scrathes will be fixed SOON.

I made reservations for Monroe which is about 300 miles north of us for Dennis. They are saying it might get poor Florida............again. Keep your heads up Chrys and all my buddies in Florida. You too Beachgirl. Your close to the coast also. I'll be praying for you

Susie, Glad to hear ya'll are ok. Yes we're real close to the gulf plus have the lake in the back. Dennis is sounding more wicked all the time. We know we'll get winds & rain & hope that's all. I am worried about the 2 huge Royal palms in the front yard. Hope they fall in the street & not my home if they go. Know we'll lose electric as do a lot even when the sunshines. Tomorrow I'll start moving stuff inside. I hate that job. We might leave out or go to our dd. She's down the road but not on the water. If we leave I'll take one of my machines so I'll have at least one left. I don't have a good feeling about this one.Someone is going to get hit for sure.I don't want anyone hit anywhere. We've had so much rain already I know we'll have a flood for awhile at least.

Glad to hear you are ok. I'm still waiting to hear from my brother in Gulfport. Don't know if they got any of the hurricane. But I am getting hurricane Cindy from Florida on Tuesday (my younger sister). Hope Dennis goes somewhere else for you guys.

Thanks to all. It felt so good to wake this morning cool, the coffee pot set to go off (hubby fixes it when he leaves). That was what I missed the most was my coffee. I didn't dare make some for fear it would make me hotter. Now I have to go wash clothes and get ready for this next critter Dennis. Heads up everyone who is in it's path. This time I'm :bolt:

Right now it looks like we won't get the brunt of Dennis. Will have storms, flooding & high winds so big chance of damage here. We will do all we can to stay safe & hope Dennis doesn't change to come here. Wish it would either fizzel out or not hit any land at all. Good luck to everyone in his path & stay safe. Susie, glad to hear your leaving out.Take care on the roads.

Well I have all the clothes washed up and dried but now I have to pack them up if we have to leave. :coffee: I sure hope we won't. Looks like Dennis is going to get Florida again. Please everyone stay safe. Tonight... the way it looks, Cuba is getting clobbered but Dennis is weakening and they are saying the gulf doesn't have the warm water like the Caribbean waters. I sure hope it just fizzles out and not hit anyone. There is still some power out in our area tonight............. oh those poor people.

Thanks Lyn.

I'm just wanting to get on with my sewing and chores around here. I'm ready to start cleaning out my house so when I move, I hope soon, I'll have that much less to tote with me. I saw today on Dr Phil that one lady didn't get rid of her clutter because she wanted to be in control of everything in her life, that meant not getting rid of anything. Sounds like me. So first thing I'm going to do is chunk all that I don't use or want. I want to get started doing that instead of running from a hurricane and not being able to choose what I can get rid of in my life. Dennis will do that for me if he comes here.
