Magot, where are you? It is all over the news about the bombings in London today. Very scarey stuff.

Tony was going into London today to visit head office. He would have been on the train that pulled into Kings Cross at the time that the first one in Kings X went off but he went into his Cambridge office first. When he got to the station they turned him away from travelling to town as there has been an "Incident". At the moment London is shut. 6 bombs went off in the underground in the rush hour - the body count is not high considering but there was a lot of panic and people injured themselves. Some time later, once the buses were full, the back end of a double decker tourist bus was blown up - full of people. There was little left of the bus. 21 died at Kings Cross, 7 at another station. Terminal 3 at Heathrow has now been evacuated. A group calling themselves related to Al Quieda are claiming responisbility on the Internet. The Islamic people I know would not condone such violence. The emergency services have been amazing. love and kisses, Jan

33 fatalities 45 serious or critically injured so far. Police have received NO CLAIMS for responsibility from anybody. Tony will be home in 45 mins or so, he is coming home on the train from Cambridge as is Katie (eldest daughter). Youngest has gone off to work - Katie has just walked in the door - we are all accounted for, but there are several memebers of staff at school who are walking around with haggard faces with spouses in the city. The police turned the mobile phone networks off as it was jamming everything so it was a little difficult to find out from people what is happening. Thanks for the kind thoughts - it has been a shocking day - and to think England was on a high yesterday with being awarded the Olympics and all(2012). Hope Tony Blair can get back to Gleneagles soon - who knows what the G8 guys will do without him. love and kisses, Jan

Jan, I'm glad you and your family are safe. I agree with Sewhappie--this feels like 9-11 all over again and it's very sad! I had routine mammogram this morning and one lady in the waiting area looked quite upset--she is very nervous because her husband is an American Airlines pilot and she said today's events in London has sent her over the edge. I don't understand how anybody or any group can even have a thought of harming innocent people! |

To the savages doing these things around the world there is no such term as "innocent people". To them, anyone who differs with the way they want the world to be is a "free target". Patsy Patsy

Thanks all, it appears there were only 4 bombs after all, about 35 fatalities and 700 wounded most of these have now been discharged - there are some casualties who are amputees and multiple fractures but they do not believe there are any more fatalities to be found. Emergency services and passers-by have been so calm and controlled I am proud to be British. Contrary to certain websites, we are not consumed with terror but getting on with the business at hand. There is no logic to acts like this, no compassion, just calculated evil. Bless him, Tony Blair has never sounded more like Churchill - what a day he has had! love and kisses, Jan

I would like to add my prayers the long list of friends around the world who would like to see this madness end. today my heart hurts for anyone in England or London who is directly affected by this madness. I am feeling the same loss I felt when we had to deal with our 9-11. Best Wishes to all

Bless you all....it's terrible the things that are done these days to innocent people in the name of religion, famine, money, etc....I think people are just plain weird....they get weirder every day. Theres no sense to the violence, because they can, they DO. Sick.... Hang in Jan...we're all with you !!! Glad to know your family is safe.... It's too bad someone can't invent a 'terrorist/weirdo' detector, they'd go in for a lobotomy and that would end that...(but then it sounds like Sci Fi....) Chrys

No casualties from todays bombs, looks like they misfired. (three tube and ine bus, same as 2 weeks ago) Rosie (18) is going on holiday tomorrow and needs to go through London on the same line as one of the bombs so we don't know if the tube will be running or not. She and her mates might take a taxi across London instead but honestly, it wouldn't bother me if she took the tube. She has as much chance as winning the lottery as being a victim. Police are quite cheerful (if that is the word) about these ones as they will have a lot of forensic evidence. I think one person is arrested already - 3 of the previous bombers were British - sheesh! love and kisses, Jan

I'm glad no one was killed today. We never know when or where something like that can happen nowadays. But, we can't let terrorists make us stop living normal lives. |

not even any casualties! It's not the type of thing that phases Londoners - they just knuckle down.

News reports of a suspect shot dead in front of the public in London today - something that very rarely happens over here; as you probably know our police are not armed, we have special tactical firearms units that do the gun stuff. They may be trying to reduce the British people to becoming a nation living in fear but it will NOT happen. |

Just seen on the news that one of the suspected London bombers was first arrested in my town... http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,16064366-23109,00.html...is this world shrinking or what? He was put in the prison that my brother in law is now in after having been convicted in the same court..(that is not so surprising as it is the one for this area) You just never know who is on your doorstep - if someone had been kinder to him, or helped as a teen he may never have come to this.. love and kisses, Jan
